As more weeks go by Coral's school finally had made announcements for choosing the student council members. Everyone was buzzing about the news and Christina wanted to run for student council so did Amber, Alice, Holly and two other girls named Arian and Macy. This was very exciting news because the girls were waiting all month. Coral deeply considered herself running for student council too but, when she found out that May also wasn't running she decided that she should wait for another chance. As Coral's friends were getting ready for their speech in the assembly Coral was busy helping Christina with her campaign. It was about pink shirt day and Christina speech about a ridiculous type of bullying resulting the pink shirt day.
(On the speech day)
Christina was the fourth to speech and her speech was very heartwarming. "The reason for remembering this pink shirt was a boy was bullied because he wore a pink shirt, so now I think we should all respect each by wearing this pink shirt, who is with me?" said Christina during her speech. Coral admired her confidence. She could never had talked in front of all those gawking eyes. Coral happily raised her hand along with the other girls. The clapping was really rewarding as Christina proudly left the stage after her speech. The rest had done their speech, but Coral could only think of brave Christina.
"Coral! Over here!" Christina called her out. She had a wide grin as she waved over Coral. Shyly Coral sat down looking at her food.
"I thought Christina's speech was amazing, what about you?" May had asked. Her eyes twinkled as she watched Christina eating her salad.
"Yeah, I agree. Wow. Christina that was really awesome!" Coral complimented. That made Christina's grin wider as her friends continuously congratulated her.
Then as the girls happily chatted Amber came over with Lala and Lacey. They were giggling. "You know Christina I thought your speech was okay, but Amber still totally beats." Lala bragged as she admired Amber. Christina's face suddenly darken, but was quickly placed with a smirk.
"Well, we will never know until the results come out." She shot back icily.
Lala and Lacey just rolled their eyes and headed back to their table chatting while glaring at Christina. Christina ignored them as Amber spoke. Her eyes were filled with worry and she was carefully glancing at Christina.
"Um....I don't know why Lala said. I am really sorry Christina, that was so mean of her and frankly I was so shocked." Amber said.
"That is okay Amber, no need to worry." Christina smiled.
Amber left to sit with Alice again talking. Christina left to the bathroom. Then May had spoke to Coral about something.
"I don't like Amber, she is such a phony and she thinks she is the queen as if everyone worships her. I hate popular and attention obsessed girls who try so hard to be perfect when their the ones who are insecured." May snorted. Then she angrily mashed her biscuits into pieces.
Coral was shocked at the same time, impressed. She thought May was always the quiet girl that could do no wrong, but Coral's predictions failed her. She could see that the reason why May said this was because May was mad about what Lala said earlier. May was clearly worried about her best friend. Coral didn't know what the big deal about best friends were.
"Well, Amber did seem popular. She has beautiful handwriting that seems to get everyone's attention." Coral shrugged. May stared at her with a blank expression more like disbelief.
"Her handwriting isn't that beautiful. I actually hate those kind of straight handwriting." May said. Coral couldn't say anything else. May clearly looked pissed off.
Christina finally came back and May's frown had turned upside down when her best friend seemed to be smiling. The rest of lunchtime was silence and Coral didn't dare to speak. She predicted that the relationships with each other seemed to be more difficult than she thought.
(Time had skipped to the end of the day)
"Mom!" Coral called out. She practically ran outside trying to escape the reality from school. Coral was really stressed out, but when she saw her mother's smile she relaxed and all that anxiety flew out.
"How was school?" Coral's mom seemed very curious with a hint of worry when she heard Coral sigh in the back.
"Okay, I guess." Coral replied trying to avoid this kind of a conversation.
"Alright. I am making pasta for dinner. How does that sound?" Coral's mother was trying to brighten up the mood of her gloomy daughter's expression.
"Great!" Coral said with a smile.
At home Aron wouldn't stop bragging about with upcoming concert. Coral just rolled her eyes as she just munched cutting off the noodles. Coral's mother seemed very pleased with her son. Coral left a hint of jealously, but nothing bet going to school.
The next morning Coral really didn't wish to go probably because they started a badminton unit. She was afraid no one would want to be her partner.
"Mom, I am not feeling well do I have to go to school." Coral whined.
"Of course you do. Now get up sleepyhead." Coral's mother had forcibly took off her blanket.
Coral grumbled although she started getting dressed. The morning was too early and Coral lived so far so she always woke up at 6am sharp. It wasn't easy for someone who loves to sleep in. Coral's uniform was even hard to dress into with that annoying skirt. Coral hated skirts unlike most girls.
(At school)
"Get ready class we are starting a new unit in PE namely a common sport you all know." Mr. Barry the PE teacher said. Mr. Barry looked really scary and he never smiled at anyone so that made Coral hate PE even more with that scary teacher.
"What about partners?" Holly's hand shot up. Everyone stared at her.
"She is so annoying can't she keep her mouth shut." Lacey complained from behind, giggling with Lala.
"My talking business has nothing to do with you, so please mind your own business." Holly glared back.
"Whatever, loser." Lala said. Her icy eyes were darted to Holly's confident hazel eyes.
"No one asked you, backstabber!" Holly shot back.
"Enough!" Mr. Barry glared at the girls.
Holly, Lala and Lacey quickly lower their glazes. Christina both frowned at those girls and mumbled "idiots" under her breathe.
"Those guys got what they deserved." Alice said to Christina.
"I know right?!" Christina said in annoyance.
Coral just stared at everyone. One thing she learned from these girls were no can trust anybody. Why? These girls loved to backstab each other so there was no way to survive.
