Chapter 1

I looked out the side window of the car in the passenger seat, the snowy forest passing by as a shadowy blur, the night sky alive with a frosty light, the moon painting silver light beautifully over everything, I sighed, fogging up the glass and looked over at my mother, I knew that I had her pale skin, but nothing else, she had regular light brown hair, neat and short, I had long, uneven dark brown hair, with golden blonde in it, she had light blue eyes, while I had hazel. She glanced at me and asked "I know its hard,Katie, your brother just died, no 16 should have to live with that." I looked out the window again, ignoring what she said and blinked in surprise, something tall and pale had flashed by. I looked back to where I saw whatever it was, but saw nothing. I looked out the windshield just as something leapt out in front of the car, the vague form of a buck showing, then my mother swerved, trying to avoid the deer, she avoid it, but the car went smashing into the tree line. Everything went black.

I awoke to a blurred vision. I looked around to where I was. I was still in the car, but the car was totaled completely, the windshield shattered and now the broken pieces were everywhere, also letting in the cold, December air. Then I saw my mother. Her head was flown back, her neck bent at a unnatural angle, her eyes wide and unseeing. My mother was dead. I had to get out. I looked doubtfully at the broken windshield, and moved to unfasten the seat belt, it came out fair enough, but that was when I noticed my bloody, shaking hands. How the hell do I not feel anything, though I'm obviously injured? I crawled out the shattered window and steadied myself by the totaled car. The icy wind freezing me in seconds, I scanned the surroundings and saw a tall, pale figure near me, but not. He looked like he was facing me.

But if he was, why did he not have a face?

He wore a business suit, his skin pale as the snow around, he was bald, and he was faceless.

Something rustled to my left, I looked to see what it was, two teenage looking people. One wore his Orange hoodie up, he was wearing a black mask that covered his face and neck, the mask had a frowning face on it, colored in red. The other had his hood down, a boys leagth brown hair showing. He wore a white mask that covered only his face, the mask had black eyes and a black mouth. I tried to think clearly, that must be just a hallucination. A cracking noise from my right. Another teenager, but he looked older, 16 or 17, he had a blue hood up under a tanish sweater, he wore orange tinted goggles, and a some kind of mask covering his lower half of his face, his arm twitched and something silver flashed metallic, it was a new looking axe, with a bright orange handle, he had another one in his other hand, but it looked way more old than the newer one. He cracked his neck again and looked towards the faceless one. I shut my eyes, thinking it was just a hallucination from seeing my mothers dead body. When I opened them again, they were gone.
