I picked up the book and felt the pages with my hand. It was an old book, but in my mind it was just another adventure, not old or new. I opened to the first page and started to read
"Mr and Mrs. Dursley are proud to say they are perfectly normal, thank you very much." Ah Harry Potter and Oldie but a Goodie, one of the best books I've ever read. I continued to read the story and tried to get lost in it like I love to do, but with the pain in my leg, it was hard to concentrate. Moments later I heard knocking on my door. Finally the doctor I thought,
"Come in!" I said somewhat loudly. The hospital door creaked open and in the doorframe was my best friend, James Alva. James is kinda is a pretty average height for a 14 year old, he's skinny with bright purple hair that looks as though he hasn't brushed it in weeks. His hair always looks like that though, he can be brushing it for hours and still look like complete and total mess. The only different I noticed about him was his eyes. They where completely bloodshot like he hadn't slept in days. If he was worried about me... I wouldn't know what to think. I mean it's not like I'm going to die, I just lost my leg.
"H-hey Hannah," I heard him say "can I come in?"
"Yeah!" I said "sit." I said motioning to the bed. I tried to smile, but as he came closer I saw tears where welling in his eyes. My smile disappeared as he came closer, in his eyes I could see he was on the verge of crying, CRYING! He had never cried in front of me, EVER! He was really worried about me. I started to feel tears welling in my eyes, I tried to hold then back, but in the attempt I felt my cheeks growing hot. Great now we're both crying I thought just great. I decided to try and cheer the both of us up. "It's not like I'm ever going to play soccer again, but I guess I could find a new hobby, right?"
"Hannah, don't say that I'm sure you'll figure something out, you will play soccer again, I know it" he said in a failed attempt to comfort me
"Doubtful," I protested "I can't play soccer with crutches, and it's not like my parents are going to buy me a prosthetic. That boat messed up my life bad."
"I'm-" I cut him off before he could finish I didn't need any petty
" can please go find the doctor for me, my leg is hurting again."
Yeah, sure." He said looking at his feet, and he walked out the door to go find the doctor.
