His eyes dull, already accustomed to the dim lighting, Alex was led into a room wearing a stained straight jacket, with guards all around him, lined up against the wall; the guards looked him up and down disapprovingly. His face wore a frown. The walls were painted in a foul shade of brown, matching the desk across the other side of the room. Sitting on the brown, mahogany chair, placed next to the desk, was Dr. Slater.
"Hello Alex. I'm Dr. Slater. You're probably wondering why you're here. Well, we're going to spend a lot of time together during your stay here. So let's get acquainted. Please, sit down." The man pulled out his glasses and wiped them, then replaced it back on the bridge of his nose; then stood up and stretched out his arm, pointing at the chair, indicating for Alex to sit down.
Alex obliged without a word. His piercing eyes looked directly at the doctor. "You think I'm mad. You think I killed innocent people." Alex spoke with passion.
"No I don't think you're mad. Not at all. Quite the contrary, the reason you're here is to determine whether you're insane. There's no need for passive aggression." The doctor smiled. It was meant to be warm and welcoming but it felt cold and hostile, "Our Vee seems quite fascinated by you."
Alex squinted at him, "Why are you talking like this?" He looked back down. "Talking like I'm mad. Like this is some kind of test. Let me guess, this is getting recorded and you'll use it against me."
"My, my, you have quite the imagination." He chuckles, "No, by law I am not permitted to record our sessions unless you have consented to it." He looks down at his watch and tilts his head back up again. "Well, it's been nice meeting you. I've learnt a lot about you already." Dr. Slater stood up and smiled again, "You'll be led to have a medical."
Once again Alex was dragged out. He let them take him this time. Silently, he walked with them towards a horrible fate.
