"KYLA!" chance shouted, immediately wrapping his arms around kyla's legs. the latter giggled as she bent down to hug the boy.

"how are you, c?" the woman asked, kissing the boy's cheek, as he kissed hers.

"i'm great. but look," chance spoke, opening his mouth, using his tongue to move his loose tooth.

kyla gasped, as the boy gave her a toothy smile, "your growing. soon enough, you'll be a big boy!" she told him, as the boy stood proudly.

"and i'll be a bro-" the little boy was cut of my ethan's hand covering his tiny mouth. the latter chuckling slightly as kyla frowned.

"huh, you know kids. wild imagination." he stated, as kyla stood up to face ethan.

"i wanted to hear what he had to say." she pouted, as she side hugged the man. ethan breathed in her vanilla scent, which complemented the scent of strawberry her house had condemned to.

"i don't think you would want to," ethan explained, not wanting kyla to know that he'd told chance about the baby, without her.

"nonsense," kyla chuckled, making her way towards the kitchen. she didn't notice until now, that chance had mindlessly entered into the guest room. which grayson and kyla originally planned for the baby.

she sighed. thinking about her late boyfriend. the person she'd loved most. her first love. her first kiss. her first relationship.

"you thinking 'bout him?" ethan asked, as kyla shamelessly nodded. ethan knew that it was hard for the woman to just live and forget her baby's father, but it was all that could be done.

"it's just. it's really hard; grayson expected me to just forget he ever lived. that he ever shared anything with me, that he was my first everything. he just wants me to move on from him. but i can't, it's too hard." she breathed, a few tears falling from her glowing skin -a perk of being pregnant.

"it's gonna be okay." ethan spoke, wiping her tears as he pulled her towards him to hug. he could briefly feel her bump rubbing against his stomach. it reminded him of hyka. chance's mother -the woman was quite vulnerable and hormonal during her pregnancy.

"that's what they all say, they just don't know how i feel." kyla spoke, honestly as she slightly sniffled.

"i still find myself waking in the middle of the night. praying for him to return beside me. i deeply wished that i was with him, on the day of the accident. i could've saved him, or even die alongside him." she squeezed her eyes shut as she knew that ethan would scold her.

"kyla, don't say that. it's hard for me too, forgetting my brother. my best friend. my strength. it takes time, and i'm willing to wait. because i know that at the end, time will help me. these memories we need to make most of them. but blaming yourself won't help, without you gray's baby nor inheritance would have been able to live in." ethan breathed, as the woman tried to process all his words.

"we need you. this baby needs you. gray needs you."
