"I met you during our first year of middle school. You were so shy I could barely get a glimpse of your face under the hoodie. You changed schools so everyone surrounded you when they had the chance. They'd talk nonstop and you'd just cower." I said softly, looking up at the stars.
"Then you opened my shell.. right?" The male beside me commented.
"It was a simple hug.. I saw you crying and hiding away in the corner of the courtyard... Under that big birch tree."
"Yeah... the stress was overwhelmin'."
"...I met you when I gave you that hug. A small hug showing you I was there for you. I pulled away to much brighter eyes, that's for sure. You wouldn't shut up after that. Video games this and cartoons that. You loved collecting random toys and making a kingdom out of them." I paused after, taking a glance at the young, short not beside me, his hoodie way to big for him and his messy red hair covering the rest of his face. I then turned my attention back to the stars and smirked.
"You know what, you're still that little kid I met under that tree. It's been years." I chuckled.
"Hey, I think I act just fine..." He muttered.
"...I think... I met you when you showed me your scars a few years before... I had no idea your family was so bad... And that I was the only one you trust." I said, getting lost in the dark space above. "You know... You changed so much after that... Yet somehow your still a little kid... We're eighteen, grow up, get a job, move out!" I heard a huff and I smirked. "Come on, Peter Pan."
"Stop with that... My names Nate... Don't you know me by now?" He asked, which I grew quiet at, before smiling.
"All too well."
