Twenty Four years ago.

It was the time of autumn in this particular country called as Japan. The cold breeze have started to feel on every people's skins as the weather have quietly changed in this particular months before the end of the year.

However, it was three thirty-five of the early morning in the date of November 16th in the year of 1993. This day, the supposedly silent place in this early morning was now been shattered on a certain place that located just thirty-one kilometers away from the city of Kyoto and in the middle of weird geographical landscape.

It was called as Sotoba or in it's very simplier term, the town of Sotoba. Currently, the town itself was currently being engulfed by large flames that destroyed some of the ancient homes, commercial district and even a wierd castle that shouldn't appeared from here. But some of buildings has been reduced to ashes from that fire.

Sotoba is currently connected to an lone national highway that passes through either other large towns or through the entrance of an secluded towns like the former thing. But the tragedy of Sotoba was been implanted in every local townspeople who happens to be living near to that town and the view of that fiery hell can be seen through the national highway itself.

Meanwhile, an convoy of two Japanese Self-Defense Force Type 73 Light Trucks and two black SUVs have passed the fiery view of the secluded town as they driving towards the town of Mizuki, just a hefty five kilometers from Sotoba and it's an large town unlike the latter.

Matteo, in his late-twenties, have seen the destruction of the town while he's riding with his mentor in one of the black SUV in a mission by the Center For Disease Control about something they would know when they arrived in the town's hall.

"Poor town, they cannot even defend from themselves..." Matteo whispered on himself as he tries to fall asleep in the vehicle.

"You awake?" Mentor asked him.

Matteo nodded at him, "I know, I was trying to get sleep right now..."

"There will be coffee later in the town's hall. You may suit that up as we have to meet with an CIA agent on Sotoba's situation."

Really? "Wait, you didn't tell me that we have CIA agent in this country? Hello, Cold War is already dead and why there's an agent here in the middle of Japan?"

"Wait for it when we arrived in the town's hall..." and the conversation died down after that.

Ten minutes later, the convoy had finally stopped in front of the town's hall, in which now been converted to sn JSDF command center for the current situation of Sotoba. Matteo and his mentor went out from the vehicle and they greet the local town mayor and the army commander with an usual bow to them.

"Good thank you we're here!" The local town mayor happily greeted them. "I was standing and working in this place for many hours since this thing had blown off into proportions!"

"Indeed mayor," Matteo gladly said to him and he faces to the JSDF commander. "How's the problem here?"

"Not good enough, American. But we've rescued ay surviving townspeople of that ill-fated town that was now been in fiery hell for so long. The prefecture have declared an semi-state of emergency and we are secretly ordered by someone else to guard something that we don't know..."

"The CIA?"

The commander nod at him. "Definitely correct, mister..."

"Matteo. Just Doctor Matteo," he corrected him.

"So you're the CDC that was been sent by Americans in suits, right?"

"Definitely yes, just pleasure to meet you and visited this town I don't know..."
