Chapter Two - I Can't Let the Lane Name get Ruined
*Rodrick's POV*
The time has come; I get to spend my last year in high school as the quarterback of the football team and class president. If everything goes well, then I'll also be valedictorian. Plus, I can finally keep an eye out on all my siblings.
Last night I couldn't sleep. My baby sister was stuck in my head all night. I don't understand why she doesn't want a ride. I mean it's just a ride, right? I'm starting to wonder if we had done something, or if something is bothering her.
I woke up around 5:30 AM, but being the "normal" teenager I am I stayed in bed a bit longer. I usually wake up this early to do my morning workout. I started off with a run around my neighborhood. That usually takes about twenty minutes, so after my run I went upstairs to dump stuff in my room. When I walked out I saw Katharine's bedroom light on. I decided to skip the rest of my work out and take a shower. I also packed my bag just in case. By the time I was done it was about 6:25 so I turned my light off and opened my door just enough to see when she would leave. I will get to the bottom of this. Even if it's the last thing I do. About five minutes later she left her room. Once she passed my door I followed her downstairs. She left a note on the table.
Hey guys, don't need a ride today. Had to go to school early to meet a teacher. -Kat
When I finished reading it I placed the paper exactly where she left it and walked out the door. I texted Veronica that I went to school early so she can drive to school with Marcel. It's about seven in the morning when we finally made it to school, and It's been fifteen minutes and all she did was decorate her locker. Thank the lord no one was here because I look like a creepy stalker. I was about to give up since I was tired of standing there but Sarah came running in.
"Hey girly, why did I have to come here so early?"
"I'm bored and needed someone to talk to."
"Well, why didn't you stay at home for another thirty minutes then?"
"I wanted fresh air."
Come on Kathrine, stop lying already. What would I have done if Sarah didn't stare her down. The girl is one tough cookie I tell you. She can crack anyone. I think the police station even called her down once to talk to a suspect.
"I didn't want a ride!"
Ha! I knew it. Should I come out now or should I wait?
"Sooner or later your little secret will be everywhere so might as well get it out now."
Secret? Wait is she keeping us a secret? It can't be us, can it?
"What's so bad about everyone knowing your related to Ro--"
"Shh! Don't say it out loud! There could be eavesdroppers!"
That would be me. So, Kathrine is avoiding us because she doesn't want anyone to know we are related? What is wrong with this girl? Two things are running through my mind at this moment. Am I hearing correct? How does she really feel about us?
"Sarah, they're popular and I never was. In middle school, I had a hard time making friends. The friends we have now was because of you. Plus the only reason, it looked like I could make friends was because I was related to the popular upper class-mans, Veronica and Marcel."
I can't tell if that's true or not. I left Wilson middle school just when Kathrine entered it. I thought she was doing fine since she never did get bullied.
"Anyways we better go to the cafeteria, I'm hungry." Kathrine said.
"Well if someone was normal and just stayed home for another thirty minutes she would have had time for really delicious food. Isn't it French Toast Friday?" Sarah said.
Are you shitting me! Is it Friday? I was looking forward to Mom's French toast! Kathrine, you better be telling me what's wrong or so help me, I will hide your damn One Direction posters.
"Missing my mother's French toast is worth it." Kathrine said.
Worth it?! Did she hit her head or something? Mom's French toast is gold and we cannot miss it!
"And why is that Ms. Lane?"
"Because dear Sarah. I cannot let the Lane name be ruined."
