I suddenly woke up.
"Weird. That dream seemed real. Wait, what time is it?", I thought while glancing at the clock beside my bed.
*CRASH* * BANG* * THUMP*
"SHMIT!!! I forgot to turn on the alarm!!", I realized, while running towards the bathroom.
Argggh, I knew I shouldn't have finished that last manga book in one night!
While drying up after a quick bath, I brushed my teeth in a hurry. Then, I grabbed my school bag from my bed and raced down the stairs.
"Hey, Dana, looks like you woke up late for the first day of your 3rd year.", Dad remarked when I reached the dining hall.
"Oh, Chelie passed by. She said she'll be going before you.", said Mom, handing Dad another cup of coffee.
"At least take a bite of your mother's cream puffs. It's your favorite.", Dad said, gesturing towards the plate of pastries.
"Mom, can I have more milk?", Conan, my younger brother, asked.
"Wait a minute. Your sister's going to be late. You should already be going too school, by now."
"Bye Mom, Dad. Con hurry up and go to school already. I'll be going ahead.", I said, while I wore my shoes in the front door.
"Be careful dear, it's only the first day, but you should be there on time."
"Yes Mom. Bye."
And with that, I rode off the driveway, pedaling down the road to school.
Oh yeah, hi. My name's Danica Maria Fortez. Dana for short. Now 16 years old and currently 3rd year in Ocampo High, an exclusive school in Senkai. And I'm on the verge of being late on my first day of school. I thought it would be another normal school-year. But, well, things are about to change.
"I made it in time.",I gasped, while I secured my bike and hurried to the HS building.
God, I wish the teacher is late.
"Oh, Dana. G'mornin!", someone said.
I quickly turned and was startled to see Chelsie, my bestie, walking towards me.
"Hey Chel, nice to see you.", I said running towards her.
"I've been waiting in front of your house for 20 minutes and you never showed up. What the hell happened to you?", Chel questioned.
I replied,"Oh, well, you know. Reading manga and stuff, as always."
"Wow. You have time to read mangas and never read even one of our textbooks?", she said.
"Speak for yourself. You have lower grades than me. At least I have some subjects that are high.", I replied.
"Okay, okay fine. You're the smart girl between us.", she said, entering the building.
"Well it's true anyway."
"Yeah, but you excel in, what, Home Ed?"
"And Math.", I added, approaching the stairs.
"Yes,yes, and Math. Well, it can't be helped. Your dad, after all, is a calculus prof in Monte Academy."
We were in the hallway approaching our class, when suddenly someone ran ahead and accidentally bumped me. My schoolbag fell, scattering it's contents across the floor. Gods, of all times, why now when it's almost time. As I bent down to pick up my books, the person came back and approached me.
"Uhmm, sorry miss. Here let me help you.", he said, picking up my books.
"No it's okay.", I said.
As we we're gathering my books, our hands met. It sent a little shiver, not the scary kind, more like a blissful moment.
"Thank you.....", I said, sensing my face becoming red.
"Your welcome.", he said.
"Hey, come on. We're gonna be late.", his companion hastily reminded him.
"Oh yeah, yeah. See you .", he said to me. Then he followed his friend towards class A.
"Hey? HEY!! Dana? Hello?", Chel said, waving her hand in front of me.
"Uh, uh yeah?"
"Who's that? Do you know him?"
"No, I don't.", I replied, still red. "Anyway, we need to go to class now."
"All right, fine, let's go", she said, as we entered class B.
During the whole class, I didn't listen to the teacher. All I could think about was that momentary feeling of warmth when our fingers touched.
