Christa Above

'Stay away from that castle. Yes that one, far out in the woods where no one in their right mind would go, stay away from it Christa, stay away.'

For the longest while, that's what my uncle Jake always told me. I've always know about that castle, everyone in Denton does, no one touches it, not even the really messed up or daring kids. I know it sounds kinda crazy but no one's gone near it or had the guts to. No one even considered going there. Well, except me.

It's another late night as I sit at my window, eyes cast out into the shadows where I can ever so faintly make out the tall trees that make up the forest that shelters the castle.

"What do you think I'd be like Amy, do go explore the woods and find that place?" From her spot on my bed, my friend Amy gives off an annoyed groan.

"I don't get it Christa, everyone in town hates the idea of even setting foot in that place. Why do you want to go so bad?" "Because it's cool!" I turn back to her. "Think about it; everyone in town is too afraid to go there, if we went, got some proof, and returned, we'd be famous! History!" "You worry about being history, I'll worry about school and Ms Queen of the Nile, Chloe." I shiver.

Chloe, biggest, baddest bitch at school, she hates everyone but especially me. Ever since that day I started dressing in my own style of colorful uniform, she doesn't like me because of all the good luck I've received from it. She's gotten extra bitchy lately and though we had tried to put the clues together Amy and I had come up with nothing on what she surely has planned for me.

Later that night, Amy falls asleep as soon as her head hits the pillow while I sit at my window seat, wrapped in my favorite flamingo fleece blanket, lost in thought. (Sigh)Why do I even bother? I'll never have a reason to go out there. So I do the same thing I always do when I'm stressed; put on one of my favorite songs from my favorite musical.

Once it's over, I reluctantly slip back into bed and gaze at the window as the moonlight falls in. Eventually, I surrender to sleep.
