There's been a murder
*thunder & lightning*
Well there's no time to worry about that when the Mayor is chasing you.
No, wait.
That wasn't the Mayor — it's his body, but I'm not so sure if it's still him.
I have no idea what's going on, but hearing gunshots within the manor had startled me. Jim and Jim, who were both just with me a few moments ago, had already bolted away. Me on the other hand, stayed still and hid. Though it wasn't long till I was seen and I had to run away as well.
And that's still what I am doing.
I was assuming everyone left the manor after a weird bright light illuminated from within it. I caught a glimpse of the butler and the chef leaving the place a few hours ago. They both seem unnerved and are hastily leaving as soon as possible.
But there's no sign of any of Mark's friends.
And that detective he hired...
I went into the maze of hedges to conceal myself. It was probably the most stupid thing I've done all day, but I knew I this place by heart. So I was confident I wouldn't get lost or arrive at a dead end.
Left, left, right, left...
This maze had three passages you could get into. One led to the pool, one exactly just outside the manor's gates, and the last one was back inside — through the wine cellar.
I hoped to get back inside in time to find someone. Anyone of help, at least.
My legs start to hurt from sprinting and turning. I'm afraid they might cramp.
Oh, God.
The maze's hedges were about seven feet high, and there were tons of twists in it.
I took my last turn and crashed into someone. The man doesn't seem to notice he even bumped into me since he kept looking up and around. Was he looking for something? Desperation was clearly etched across his worn out face. His over-grown mustache quivered, as if he was on the verge of crying
And yet, he was smiling.
Not until he saw me.
His face immediately turned sour at the sight of me on the ground.
He pointed an accusatory finger.
"Who the hell, are you?"
"I..." I stammered. How would I explain myself? No one knew I was here except the Jims. He'd probably think I was the murderer.
He reached for something behind his back. I dreaded the worst. Was it a gun? A knife?
But the Colonel seemed to realize he wasn't carrying anything at all.
He turned to me; now smiling creepily again.
"Milady, perhaps you have seen the master of the house?"
Does he mean Mark? I have no idea what's he going on about, but I decided to answer his question with pure honesty.
"I'm sorry, sir, but I have not."
He did a small bow of gratitude and held out his hand for me to grab on to get myself up. I took it, reluctant and paranoid on what he might do next.
But he only pushed past me and was calling for Damien and Mark in a joking way.
The last thing I heard before he disappeared around a corner was, "Come on out, you all!"
I disregarded him and focused on getting inside. I need to get help. I need to get to a phone.
