The girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Chapter 1

My alarm clock rings, signalling it's time for me to wake up. “Ugh.. why did I have to schedule this appointment so bloody early?”

Having brushed my teeth and eaten my breakfast in anticipation, I waited for my best friend Alyss to come pick me up. And there she is, on cue. “Hey beautiful, you ready?” About as ready as I'll ever be... “Duh, I can't wait! Let's go.”

“So, what tattoo are you getting?” Oh yeah, I forgot to mention you can't tell anyone except your parents and the tattoo artist. “You know I can't tell you yet, you'll just have to wait and see, love.”

"We're here!", I exclaim happily as we pull up into the parking lot of the one tattoo shop that gives people the tattoos of their dreams: The Purple Canvas. Having arrived 10 minutes prior to the start of my appointment, we decided to sit down and have a little chat.

"So, are you nervous? Scared it will hurt?" "In all honesty, yes, I'm scared to death. But I'll survive. I'm a fighter, now aren't I?" "Yes, you are." "Lara Ideia? You're up now." "Good luck beautiful, you got this. I'll be waiting right outside."

*7 hours later*

"Well that was about time!" "I'm sorry it took so long haha. I fainted somewhere halfway, so we had to take a break. But it was all worth it in the end." "May I see it? Please?" Despite being 17 years old, Alyss could sometimes be rather childish. "Okay, here we go! It's a big one, I'll give you that."

As I lifted up the back of my shirt more, her jaw dropped straight to the floor. My tattoo was one of a huge black dragon, breathing fire, spreading all across my lower back. "Wow... why did you choose this of all things?"

"Because I'm very protective of the things I care about. If you hurt them, you hurt me."
