Early morning light trickled into the bedroom of my familiar apartment. Squinting my eyes and stretching my arms, I sheepishly surveyed the room. Not the most extravagant place, but it worked. It took a few moments for me to realise that something had woken me up. I thought back a while until something struck as unusual. It was a sound that had interrupted my sleep. I remember hearing a strange, high pitched noise like a zip! My mind swam with confusion and I shook my head in an attempt to pull my thoughts together.
Wondering for a bit what the strange sound might have been, I hopped out of bed. With my feet on the ground, I noticed that the floor was unusually warm. I shrugged it off and started for the kitchen. Still half asleep, I almost fell over when I tripped on something resting on the floor. As I regained my balance I looked down at the object and saw that it definitely wasn't of Earthly origin.
It was a smooth, white orb about ten centimeters in diameter, split through the centre by a super-thin, black line. There were scorch marks on the floor around it, which must've been the cause of the warm floor, and possibly the noise I heard. How did this thing get here? What even is it? I picked it up and was surprised to find that it weighed almost nothing in my hand. Turning it over, I inspected the surface and found what appeared to be a button. "Huh, weird..." I said. After a moment of decision, I pushed the button. The orb split along the black line and opened slightly, no more than a centimeter. Strange, robotic legs protruded from the small opening, gradually becoming longer. They made the orb look similar to a spider, and it surprised me enough that I dropped it from my grasp.
The orb landed on the ground intact, seemingly unaffected by the fall. It began to move towards my feet with its spidery limbs, stopped about thirty centimetres away, then swiftly jumped up and hooked itself around my legs. I panicked and quickly tried to get the thing off, but the orb circled around, avoiding all my attempts to knock it off. It climbed up along my spine, and my struggle became more and more desperate the higher it went. Still, the orb did not separate from my body.
I started to freak out. Removing it was impossible. It reached my shoulders then stopped moving. I relaxed a little, thinking the ordeal was over. The next instant, I felt an excruciating pain in the back of my neck. There was a thump of the orb hitting the ground behind me. I turned to look at it. Unmoving, it now seemed to be in an inactive state. Suddenly, all the feeling in my body disappeared. The lack of sensation left me falling towards the ground. My head struck the hardwood of the floor, knocking me out and sending my consciousness into a black, empty void.
AUTHOR'S NOTE:
Pikachu3693: Without my amazing co-writer and editor, none of this would be possible. Mostly because I'm not a great writer-
Chi-Chan: Wrong! You are a great writer, just not great at grammar. ^-^
Pikachu3693: Right... as I was saying, this story will be long, and this is only the first part of an ongoing franchise. Chapter 1 will be mostly information based and Chapter 2 will be similar.
Chi-Chan: I think they're quite story based too... >-< And we're planning to add pictures to the story! :D
Pikachu3693: Yes. So, to anyone reading, we hope you enjoy the story.
Chi-Chan: And if you have any comments or questions, we'll be happy to answer them!
Pikachu3693: Can you do that? I don't really think I'm... social material.
Chi-Chan: You want me to do that too?! Fine... I'll just add Fan Mail Answerer to my list as well. ~o~
Pikachu3693: I think I'll end the note here. Thank you for reading the Prologue, and please read our future chapters.
Chi-Chan: **Warning!**
New chapters may take large amounts of time to update!
Pikachu3693: Chapter 1 as of posting this prologue is at more than 2000 words and is still incomplete
Both: See you in the next chapter! >w<
