Flying With You

11 1 2

Off of the ground, with our worries behind
Without anything to search for or anything to find

Holding your hand and ready to fly
Spreading our wings to take off into the sky

I close my eyes, too scared to look below
Trying so hard not to let my fear show

But I open my eyes to find myself in a world unknown
With the twinkling stars so clearly shown

I flew to the moon with your hand in my hand
Hoping that you would do more than understand

Hoping that what I feel isn't part of a dream
One that is torn apart and ripped at its seams

I am woven into a blanket of stars
Freed from the restraining prison with bars

But I hear a soft melody that puts my mind at ease
And I see him pressing gently on the piano keys

A plaintive tune mixed with a joyful ring
But my whole world stops when he starts to sing

Even the air around me is filled with bliss
And I wonder why the world I live in can't be like this

I hear you telling me that it is time to go
And return to the world that I unfortunately know

That place was a world that I greatly lack
And it pained me to see that you never took me back

I still find myself listening, at the end of the day
To search for the gentle warble that the man did play

Sometimes deep in the night I hear his song
And I know in my heart that is where I belong

I hear his chuckle, filled with glee
And I hear him whispering quietly to me

Come fly here with your friend, that's the least you could do
Because every song I make, would be empty without you

You are my light, my inspiration through it all
I bend to your will, to your beckon and call

I will wait until the day you walk through those doors
Because only then will this piano be yours
