Chapter 1 || A New Beginning
"Penis," is the first thing my new guidance councelor says as I get into the office. I make my way to her table, nervously awaiting her next comment.
When she doesn't, I hesitantly reply "E-excuse me?" Her face is on her computer deeply concentrating. "Ever heard of erotic fiction?" Then without moving her gaze, she picks up a student file and says "Oh, He-l-oo Mr. Cam-e-ron." Sitting down on the chair in front of her, I sigh a nervous "Hi." Gripping on to my bag with one hand and the arm of the chair with the other, I look boldly into her eyes and take in a huge gulp of spit.
She suddenly puts her eyes on me and pulls down her glasses to the bridge of her nose. "Are you just going to sit there, or are you going to leave for your next class?"
"I uh, I don't-"
Two eggs come crashing against the window behind her, and I stare as two boys laugh from outside, and then quickly run away. "You wouldn't want to be here Cameron," when another egg hits her window she exclaims "because SHIT happens!" I look at her in awe "D - did you just say?-"
"I have a student here, who would love to give you a little tour around the place." She interrupts. "And as the year goes by, you'll learn that NO ONE comes to me when they have a problem." She looks at me sternly, "And I like it that way." She adds. Then she stands up and gives a huge smile.
"Have a good day at Ridgeway High!" She screams and then sits back down, mumbling the word "penis."
I keep wondering why I out of everyone had to move. "Looks like the guidance councillor loves me already," I mumble silently.
While I leave the room, I bump shoulders with a buff guy with curly hair. He gives me a death stare, and I quickly get out.
It takes me a while, but I finally see a guy awkwardly fixing his hair in front of a picture frame and adjusting his belt, finally smoothing down his Tshirt with his chubby hands.
He looks at me, then quickly turns around and shuffles through some folders. After hysterically giving up, he looks back and flashes an awkward smile, while taking all of the papers and dumping them in the trash, kicking it a little bit. I'm beginning to think a lot of things are awkward about this guy.
"So," he says trying to lean casually against the garbage when really, it just made him look even more awkward, "I'm Michael." He wipes his hands on his pants and shakes mines.
"Cameron," I reply. "So can I show you round' or what?"
"Uh, yeah. Yeah totally."
"Well Cameron there are a few things you need to know before gettin' settled." We walk down the hall back outside.
"Everyone has a label. Don't expect to fit in too easily, it ain't happening."
We walk across to the back of the school, near the walkway. "Um, what do you mean exactly by, 'label'? I didn't really get you on that one."
"Well Cameron, how bout I show you round? These, right here are the ____.
