"You know, everyone's out trick or treating." He appeared in the doorway. I jumped.

"Jase! You scared the living daylights of me."I exclaimed.

"Well, you know, you should be scared." He replied.

"Why?" I asked.

"Well, I mean you're all alone here and everyone else is together, having fun." Jase said simply.

"Jase, you know I'm an introvert. There is no way I am dressing up as a ghost and asking for candy." I replied, hands on my hips.

"How about... we crank up the music and dance all night long?" He suggested.

I smiled softly. "That idea isn't too bad."

He placed my hand on his shoulder after we'd turned up some spooky music. We swayed to the rhythm, our feet moving in fairly synchronizing harmony.

And then, suddenly, Jase stopped moving. His eye widened and he grabbed my scarf, which was hanging off my chair only seconds before. He wrapped it around my neck and tugged.

He tugged and tugged. My throat tried to resist.

I slumped to the floor with blood pouring out of my mouth.
