As Ms. Potts and I sat in the kitchen, she took the opportunity to ask a few questions.

"So, miss...I don't think I caught your name."

"Valentina. But people usually call me Val." I said.

"Alright. Tell me Val, how did you learn about Tony?"

It took me a few minutes, since the wounds were still fresh.

"Well, my mom kept my dad a secret for a long time. It never bothered me that I didn't have a dad. But when I was in middle, people started to tease me about it. Harshly. It got to the point where, I was terrified of going to school.

After my mom brought it to attention to the principal, she told me about my dad. Not so much his name, just stuff about him. She didn't tell me his name until a few days ago."

I had to stop, so I could keep myself from crying.

"She used her last breath to tell me who he was. I'd give anything to see her again."

Before Ms. Potts could say anything else, a voice from the next room interrupted us.

"There'd better be a good reason I'm being pulled away Pepper."

A dark haired man rounded the corner. Stopping when he saw me.

"Who's she?"

Ms. Potts walked over to the man, handing him the papers. They were having a hushed conversation. Their voices rising by the minute.

"The evidence is clear, Tony! She's your daughter!!"

"I don't care, Pepper! These could've been easily faked! These mean nothing!"

Tony, as I now knew the man, tossed the papers at Pepper before turning around to leave.

"HEY!" I shouted.

Tony turned around, looking surprised that I spoke up.

"Don't you walk away from me! I just lost my mother, and I have nothing left! I have...nobody. If you have to run your own test, fine. But don't just ignore me like I'm a piece of trash!"

Tears were running down my face. Ruining what makeup I had on.

"I sold everything before coming out here. Thinking that maybe, just maybe, my dad'll take me in. At least until I have a place to live. I'm living out of my truck for f*ck's sake right now! I have...nothing!" I shouted.

Pepper looked at Valetina with sympathy. She couldn't imagine what it'd be like to loose one parent, only for the other parent to outright deny you as their child.

Tony stared at Valentina.

"Oh I'll be getting a separate test done. You can count on that."

Tony went back to his workshop. Leaving Valentina in tears.

"What am I gonna do, now?" Valentina asked.

"You can live with me for now. After that, we'll find you a job. How's that sound?" Pepper offered.

"That sounds good."

........

It had been a three months since Valentina moved in with Pepper. She got a job as Pepper's assistant to help her with Tony. She tried to be as professional as she could around Tony.

She'd reinforce Pepper's threats whenever Tony failed to go to a meeting. To which she would have to do.........again.

Hey ladies, gents, and all genders/non'binary people! I have a question. When Tony gets kidnapped and Yinsen puts the makeshift reactor in Tony's chest, should Valentina have the same this happen to her? Please let me know.

Sincerely,
