Monday.
Mother came to check on me in the morning. She was even asking her coworkers to let her free for the whole entire week. She came in the room with a bag of fruits, freshly picked from the garden behind our house.
"Here, eat some apples." She handed one on my hand as I started to bite softly on it. "Mother?" I called out. She looked to me with a hum of the word 'hm', but I shook my head with a smile. Feeling tongue tied.
I wanted to tell her everything. I felt heavy and I haven't lied this much against her. "Do you wanna tell me something?" Mother had urged out, peeling some apples with her small pocket knife.
"I guess so.. Please don't be mad." I begged her for a few times as she just laughed it off. "Fine, then. What is it?" She smiled, some wrinkles appearing one by one.
"I... was working at a mental institute, right?" I started off. Then everything smoothely curved down. Mother's face growing serious by the minute of everything I told. I told her about the Bangtan Family, Taehyung and the accident, even the part where I'd have to leave in a week.
Mother was starting to drop tears from her cheeks, "Mother.. they're not so bad people but they also are bad people but.. I came into this without thinking much and I have to finish this, or else you'll be endangered.. especially Father's." Mother covered her mouth in shock and very much grief.
She slapped me softly, "Why didn't you tell me earlier! Why couldn't you have avoided this in the first place!" She continued to hit me. She was crying, and sooner later- I started to cry with her as well.
"I'm very sorry, but.. I want to spend this whole week with you and Father.. I hope Father understands, I just really want to be with you guys."
"Okay, I'm not letting you go easily. Make sure to call me every night, or atleast a text message so I know you're still alive. I'll take care of your Father." Mother had advised after a few minutes of explaining.
"Mother.. What can I go through without you.." I hugged her as we cried silently together.
Tuesday.
"I was really busy but if this is important, fine then." Father frowned, he had actually got convinced by Mother to spend the week in the hospital with me. "Stop complaining, it's our daughter." Mother slapped him, nagging him of his workaholic behavior.
I laughed, they were seriously cute. "The doctor is here to take your blood samples for today." Jin had appeared from the door with a syringe.
"This won't hurt." He soothed me out as if we were strangers which wasn't the case. Mother was glaring intently at Jin, I told her about Jin as well. She was trying to stop herself from hitting him.
As he had finished the shot, Mother smiled at Jin. "Thank you for being the doctor of my child." She was smiling but it sounded like a threat, her words I mean.
Father thanked as well before Jin left with the tubes of my blood. "Father, I have a question." I blurted out since he was already arguing with Mother playfully like they were still in their twenties.
"What question is it, darling?" Father asked with a small smile. "What... happened when I was a child? I only remember helping you in your lab tend to some medicinal matters." Father's smile faded away. His face looking dead serious which made my bones shiver in curiosity and fear of his answer.
"Nothing, just what you stated." His voice stern and cold. Mother frowned at his behavior, "Sorry, hon. Father doesn't remember too much either." He reasoned yet his eyes twitched. Father's eyes twitch whenever he lied.
"Oh, okay." I acted naive. I suppose Father had a dark past then, or I did as well. "Anyways, wanna play cards? Your old man has been training hard to beat you." Father changed the subject, an awkward smile he wore.
"Sure, Father." I smirked, my competitive spirit burning with passion as Mother just watched and acted like the referee.
Wednesday.
Mother came back in the morning. They had brought some photobooks of us three, especially when I was a child. Father couldn't come over since there wss urgent business but he said he'd be back by afternoon which we both understood completely.
"Why bring such photo books, Mother. It's embarrassing." I pouted cutely as she placed a big photo book on my lap in my hospital bed. "Just flip over the pages." She nagged me as I just followed obediently.
"I've seen all these." I sighed, remembering each photo yet one that seemed very distant to my memory. It was me when I was about 6 years old. I held a small albino rabbit to my chest, with a smile.
"I didn't have a rabbit before, what happened?" I looked at Mother as she showed a worried look... and a look that showed she had hid something from me.
"You.. healed that rabbit. Your Father almost gave up on that rabbit because of the infections you had.. One time, you sneaked in his lab and the rabbit was fixed. You didn't even know what you concocted to heal this rabbit." Mother continued on. Was this what Hoseok meant? My childhood?
"How come I don't remember, Mother?" My head had ached as I couldn't remember anything at all. Just that small detail where I helped Father at numerous things. Helped, t'was the keyword.
"Father erased your memories."
Thursday.
Father and Mother came. "I swear, Mother has hid something from me.. She's just not saying anything." Father complained to me in a kiddy like manner. I laughed as Mother told him that it was just a secret.
"We hide secrets too, sometimes." Mother looked at me as I lookrd back at her seriously. "I hate not knowing anything, tell me.." Father tried warming up to her in such a loving way ).
"Ah, you dirty germ! I said it's a secret. You'll know later on, okay?" Mother exclaimed, hitting him on the shoulder as Father acted like he was in despair. I felt like I was in despair, right now.
"Fine then, I'll wait for that moment." Father finally gave up as I laughed at their ruckus. But at the end, Jin had peeked out from the door.. looking at me as if telling me, it was time to decide. My decision? Nonexistent. I had to just do what I need to do. I just hope this choice isn't bad.
It was night time. Mother was still here as Father already left to work. "I hope you know that I love you. Father loves you. So, so so much." Mother stated, caringly.
"They're visiting tomorrow night, right? Let me meet them." I nodded as Mother lovingly held my hands, intertwining them with her smile.
"Sure."
