We made it into the court room where very little people were gathered. A few local Community Support officers, some Witness Protection Officers, A few guards from the prison and a S.W.A.T Officer who I presumed to be Brian Gamble. Damn was he hot. I thought. However, I didn't stare, just glances and took my place next to James on the opposite side of the room to where Gamble was stood.
"Okay. Are we ready to begin?" The judge asked. Several sets of 'yes' rang out. "Good. Then all sit please." She smiled as we all sat down.
"Now. As you all know. We are here to discuss what would be best for 18 ear old Chelsea Furlong. After her father was killed and due to us being unable to track down her mother, Chelsea was placed into imprisonment for her own safety and protection. But updates from staff express concerns about her not having freedom and growing up behind bars where she cannot begin a life for herself. And also express that she was beginning to grow depressed, crying herself to sleep every night. So we are gathered today in this court room with three possible alternatives. The first alternative is that Chelsea goes back to Los Angeles Prison For Women. The second alternative is that we let Chelsea walk freely but be checked up on from time to time by Community Support and Witness Protection officers. Or the third alternative is that Chelsea remains out of imprisonment but still has her freedom by living with Los Angeles S.W.A.T Officer, Mr Brian Gamble. I have three people who I have requested to share what they think is best. Those three people will be a Guard from the prison, a Community Support officer and a Witness Protection officer. So could I ask Mr James Acer from Los Angeles Prison For Women to please step up and express his views." The judge said calmly and very sympathetically. I watched as James walked up and stood at the podium.
"I have seen Chelsea everyday for the past 18 months. And for the last 10 months, I have had to sit in her cell with her, settling her down to sleep because she is crying. She is crying because of where she is. It's not healthy for her. She almost died twice when she stopped eating and tried to escape, cutting her wrist on the fence and bleeding out. I want her to be free but at the same time, I want her to be safe whilst those murderers are out there. I have known Mr Brian Gamble since college and I know that he's a good guy. In my opinion, Chelsea will be best off with him."
"Thank you James. Can I now please call up Miss Chloe Wright from Witness Protection" The judge said. A middle aged and kind looking lady stood up at the podium.
"Thank you your honour. I have visited Chelsea once before and she was in terrible condition. I don't know all she's been through but nobody wants a life behind bars. But neither do they want to walk in the street, not knowing what's going to happen to them next. So In my view, I will agree with Mr James Acer and say that Chelsea will be best suited to living with Mr Brian Gamble so that she is free but also has protection." Chloe said and stepped down.
"Thank you Chloe. And finally, can I please call up Mr Ashton Hardy from Community Support." The judge called. A fairly old, dark skinned man stepped up.
"I don't know Chelsea personally but I've read her story in the papers. What she went through was horrific and brutal. But then for her to be shoved into solitary confinement in a prison for criminals is bang out of order. She should be free and she should also have close protection which is why my voice lies with placing her in the care of Mr Brian Gamble." He said and stepped down.
"Thank you Ashton. We'll take a break, there are refreshments in the hall at the back. Re-join in 30 minutes." The judge said and rose up. We all rose up as well as she walked out before I dragged James out of the room. When we got to the hall, I went on the balcony and gasped for air.
"Chels you okay?" He asked in concern.
"I could hardly breathe in there. I hate things like this." I said, catching my breath a little. He helped me up as I heard the sound of jogging boots.
"James. She alright man?" I heard. I turned around to see Brian Gamble.
"Yeah. I think it just got a bit much for her in there. She's never really liked situations like that. Anyway. Chelsea, this is Brian. Brian, this is Chelsea." James introduced us to each other.
"Nice to meet you Chelsea." Brian smiled.
"You too. James talks about you often." I said shyly.
"James. Could I talk to you for a second please." I heard Miss Davidson call.
"Sure. Will you two be alright whilst I go and see what's wrong?" James asked.
"Sure. If we're gonna be living together, we gotta know each other." Brian said, giving me a gentle side hug and keeping his arm around my shoulders. I felt safe in his grasp. Like nobody could touch me without dying.
"Want a drink?" Brian asked after a few seconds.
"Sure. It's a little cold." I smiled, heading back inside and grabbing a coffee. Brian got the same and we sat down and spoke to each other. I told him everything in my life and he did the same. I can tell that we're gonna get along just great.
TIMESKIP
When the court finished, the verdict was that I would have to live with Brian for my own welfare. I was over the moon that I was finally out of prison and free but also happy that I still had the protection I needed. I would definitely miss James and Bea and Miss Davidson though. But it's a part of life. We have to say goodbye eventually.
