I ran as fast as my feet would take me towards the front doors of the school. "Miss LaCroix, please come with me." Said a deep voice from behind me. I skidded to a halt and turned to see the principle watching me with lidded eyes. I hung my head and followed him, breathing heavily. As he closed the door behind me I started talking, "look sir, I'm really sorry, I just got some odd and rather surprising news... I shouldn't have run, but I got scared."
"I understand completely Justice. The fact of the matter is, if we had known you'd be here so soon, I would've warned you and Roran about the mate bond. His mother is a very powerful fortune teller, a true gypsy. She foretold of a powerful young wolf that the moon goddess had thouched with the magic of the night. The Black Luna. She whispered of the complications of having the blood of two magical beings coursing through your veins, and how you'd probably have two mates but that if you hadn't already met your mates, since you'll be 18 so soon, that you'd only have one. you've got how long till your 18th birthday now?"
I was reeling from the information he'd just thrown at me. "i-its in...um... two days away... um, sir."
"Keep and eye open at all times for potential mates. They could be human or supernatural. Don't limit it to only wolves either, as you have more than wolf in you." And with that information tossed to me, he opened the door and ushered me to my next class, which was music. I walked just as madame Terri was asking if anyone was couragious enough to go up. I had a sudden surge of boldness and I raised my hand, walking to the makeshift stage at the front of the room. I looked at my friends and said, "hey guys! I know you know this song, it's called Joey, so come on up if you want to." And then I started,
"What if I said yes
What if I'd gone out that night
What if you'd turned left
Everything would've turned out alright
What if I'd spoke up
What'd if I'd took the keys
What if I had tried a little harder instead of always trying to please"
When I hit the chorus, the boys had come up and started playing with me. I wrote this song about my best friend in Montana whom I was actually in love with.
"Joey I'm so sorry
Ohh can you hear me
Joey I'm so sorry"
Before I could start the second verse, Luke started singing and I nearly cried then and there.
"What if I'd said no
What if we'd never fell in love
What if we'd gone slow
Or a little be faster and broken up
Would I know this hurt
Would I feel this pain
Do you know that with all I have left in my very last breath I will call your name"
I rejoined him,
"Joey I'm so sorry
Ohoohoh can you hear me?
Joey I'm so sorry"
Luke stopped singing and I continued with the saddest part of the song,
"Were you sad
Were you scared
Did you wish for a prayer to be free
Was it quiet and cold
Was it light or too dark to see
And did you reach for me"
The boys all joined me for the last chorus,
"Joey I'm so sorry
Ohh can you hear me?
Joey I'm so sorry
Oohhhohh can you hear me
Joey I'm so...
Joey I'm so..... sorry"
As the song faded the class stood and clapped like their lives depended on it, some people, even the big bad werewolf boys, had begun to cry. I stepped off the stage and went to my seat, the boys following after me, tears hidden in their beautiful eyes.
