"Y/n! Y/n! Wake up, would you?" My eyes slowly and heavily fluttered open at the familiar voice coaxing me out of my slumber.
I was met with King's soft features and an immediately concerned look spread across his face as he seemed to take a closer look at me.
"What's wrong? You look like you've been crying. And it's already 11, you never sleep in this late."
I opened my mouth to speak, but a squeak was all that came out. My throat was far too dry to properly use my voice. I grabbed a glass of water on my bedside table and took a sip before speaking.
"So much happened last night..." He took a seat next to me. "Okay, we've got like three minutes to get off this thing and find a hotel to chill for today. So here's what you're going to do." He put his hands in top of mine.
"You're going to take three deep breaths, find your cutest clothes, do your hair in that hairstyle you always like, go out there, and be the strong independent woman I know as my best friend until we have privacy in the hotel to talk things over. Can you manage that?"
I slowly nodded and he gave my hands a small squeeze before getting up and walking toward the door.
"King, wait." He turned around and I quickly pulled him into a hug. "Thank you." He hugged me back before leaving me to my room.
I did as he asked before walking out of my room and immediately catching the eyes of Ban and Kira. "Hey, what's-" Ban was immediately cut off by Kira who shook her head. She then mouthed to me "Later." And I reluctantly nodded.
She grabbed my hand in hers and we walked off the boat that left my mind a mess together.
Our group walked around town for a little while with Gowther leading the way, map in his hands. "It should be just around this corner." Gowther directed as we walked around the ledge.
Kai had been slightly distant, which made me fear he heard or saw last night's exchange. We threw on our disguises as we entered the hotel after being given a few keys by the desk worker.
However, this theory was quickly disproven as Kai grabbed me gently by the arm before I could enter my room with Kira and Elizabeth.
"Hey, do you wanna talk?" I put on a fake smile. "I'm fine. Why did you want to talk?" He frowned and pulled me into one of the empty rooms for privacy.
"Y/n, you don't need to put on a smile for me. I'm here for you to talk to, okay? So what's really up, because you've been quiet and mopey all afternoon." He pulled me on the bed next to him.
I sighed deeply. "Kai...I don't know h-how to-" "Hey, hey, shhh...look at me." He pulled my chin up to meet his eyes and pressed his lips gently to mine.
He gave me a soft smile as he pulled away. "Whatever is going on, we'll get through it, so you don't need to be afraid." Tears began spilling out of my eyes uncontrollably. "I'm so sorry Kai!" I sprinted out of his room and into the room where King, Ban, and Kira were. I slammed the door shut and locked it.
Ban immediately pulled me into a warm hug. "Whoa whoa, what's going on? Do I need to kick someone's ass?" I couldn't speak properly, so I just clung to him and cried into his chest for a minute or so until I was okay enough to speak.
"You've been off all day, please tell me what's going on. I'm worried." Kira gave me a concerned look that mirrored King's.
"Last night, Meliodas told me he loved me."
I let the news sink in and saw them physically holding in their interjections.
"I couldn't believe it, and then he put his hand on my cheek...and he kissed me. But what's worse is I let him. I kissed him back. But then I remembered Kai and realized what I was doing a-and I-"
