Evangeline
I hold Threda in my arms, trying to wet nurse her for hours as we walk through the dark to Frerbin's brother's kingdom. My milk will never come in, I think hopelessly. Trevon leads the way and Barr watches out from behind.
"Watch your step here," Trevon spoke softly as he holds a branch up over my head. I look down and step over the small log.
"Thanks Trevon," I smiled appreciatively and continued walking. I heard a twig snap ahead of me and a low growl.
"Get back here Evangeline!" Barr shouted just before a small dragon appeared in front of me. Her teeth bared and her flame shown in her chest. I hesitated for a split second and then I was pushed aside. I flung to the ground, Threda thrown from my arms. I hit my head on a tree and laid there for a second, trying to regain my sight. It was all blurry, so blurry and dizzy that I couldn't stand. I blinked a few times and reached up to my head. I saw my hand was covered in blood when I brought it down to check if I was bleeding or not. I sat up and once again I felt dizzy. I looked over and saw the dragon picking up Threda in it's short arms.
"Threda!" I croaked as I tried to get up, but stumbled and fell once more. The dragon snickered and slithered away into the woods. The other dragon reared himself and began making fire in his belly. I saw the glow of the fire as the flames engulfed Barr and Trevon. Their screams echoed throughout the unusually quiet forest. I began to cry. This was it. The end. The dragon turned his head and then there was a large flame coming towards me.

Giro, The Powerful
Life as a skin changer is difficult. Running a village of them was even harder. I sit in my throne and breathe heavily. I didn't ask for this. I never wanted to be king, but my uncle didn't have any offspring and my father had died shortly after I was born and I was next in line.
"Your majesty," a soothing voice sounded from behind me. I turned and saw my wife, Mezo, The Bright, standing in the doorway. I smiled and stood up and began walking towards her. "The border patrol just arrived, they brought back something interesting." I flick my eyes down into hers and grabbed her waist. She smiled as I kissed her forehead.
"Tell them to bring the news to me," I said into her ear. She pulled away without a word and walked away. I sat back down into my throne and closed my eyes. The images of men raiding our village and killing our people filled me with rage. One day, they will have their well deserved revenge. All men will die for what they did. I opened my eyes when I heard the large doors open. My wife appeared in front of two of my warriors whom were carrying a bundle. I couldn't sniff it out and it was irritating me. I let out a low growl as I sit up.
"Sir, we were patrolling the south border as usual, and there were two men, a woman, and a babe traveling from Asindis. We took care of the men and women, but the child, sir, we couldn't kill her," the female warrior spoke as she held the human babe up. My nose flared and my chest burned with rage as I stood up, took an intimidating step forwards, and released a growl that echoed throughout the hall.
"Get the beast away from me," I snarled and sent them away. I turned and sat back down. The babe had not left the hall, as my wife had grabbed it. I was furious. My dragon was spitting fire in rage inside me, I'm sure my eyes were black by now. She walked up to me with such grace it calmed me down slightly. I would never hurt my wife.
"Giro," she said with pleading eyes, "What are we to do with her? She is just a babe, I will raise her as my own. Raise her as one of us. She has nothing to do with your father's death." Her eyes were turning black. I hated seeing them that way, she was too pure to have this cursed life. I never wanted to see her angry. I took a deep breath.
"She will grow up and become just like them!" I spat out in my own frustration. She looked down at the babe in her arms. We couldn't have children and my wife has wanted children since she was one herself. I took another hefty breath and looked at her. "We can keep her," Mezo's eyes lit up, "But, we will have a witch turn her. I can't have other villages know that we have adopted a human child." She looked like she was going to object but then walked up to me, kissed my cheek, and flooded out of the room.
