You opened your eyes, finding yourself in the void. You were wondering if all of that was a dream. You slowly sat up. Suddenly, a familiar pain blasted from your left leg. You glanced at the wound as you put the blanket aside. It was carefully wrapped with a bandage that already has blood stains.
A gunshot.
Then you thought, it wasn't a dream. It was a nightmare. What a nice 'welcome back' gift from your parents, though. You stared down at your wound, recalling all what's happened earlier before—a sudden realization struck you. Error was there, he saved you. Well, you weren't sure if he saved you. To you, saving all the ones you care about was more like saving you too, even if you were just left there. But then again, he actually saved you. You shook your head. You reminded yourself that he's only using you as a tool for something soon. But it weirdly didn't bother you much this time. You wrapped yourself with the blanket, feeling like crying. You heard soft footsteps coming your way. You instantly wiped away your tears and made sure your hair covered your face. The footsteps became louder and louder until it finally stopped. You hear a deep grunt and rustling sounds until it turned dead quiet.
"Hey." He said. You ignored him, not wanting any more trouble. "I said hey."
"I heard you the first time." You snapped.
He growled. "Don't give me that attitude."
You stayed quiet. A thousand questions ran through your head, but you thought none of them are important except one.
"Why me..?" You asked, voice a little raspy.
"Huh?" He said, confused.
You cleared your throat. "I said, why did you choose me?" You finally turned your head to him. He was sitting in an Indian position, his elbow on his thigh while his head rested on his hand.
He scoffed. "Why do ya' wanna know?" He asked, a non-existent brow raised.
You find his expression rather amusing, for a glitchy skeleton, but you didn't let it show.
"Cause I don't get why you chose me. Did you choose me cause I can fight?" You said. At this state, you'll keep rambling on. "Did you choose me so you can use me? Why?"
He laughed. He fixed your hair and put them behind your ear. He caught you off guard, it made your soul flutter. You never felt like this, but you hate this feeling.
"No. Cause of this." He flicked your forehead, making you hiss. He laughed. You soothed the spot where he flicked you, but that just made your soul flutter more. You wanted this feeling to stop. You want him to stop. But then, you wondered what he meant about your... forehead.
"W-what?" You mentally face palmed at how you stammered. "What do you mean?"
He stood as put his hands in his jacket's pockets. "You'll see. Rest, I'll just do something." He said, standing up. You didn't want him to leave until he answers your question, but at the back of your head, that's not the only reason why you didn't want him to leave...and you knew why.
Breathing in, you forced your emotions to turn off for this one moment. "Error..."
"Hm?" He turned to you, his unusual pupils piercing through yours. Again, it caught you off guard. "...nice talk." He walked inside an opening through a different universe. You lost him, and you thought that you were stupid. You punished yourself by hitting your head. You're used to physical pain as your punishment, and guess it embedded in your brain. You stared down at your palms. You thought your hands doesn't look like it belonged to a woman.
I guess that's why no one respects my gender... You thought. You curled your hands to fists, seeing the calluses of your fingers. Slowly, tears stung your eyes and your gash on your cheek from last night. It falls on your fists, rolling down on your lap.
"I-it hurts so much..." You told yourself.
You've never cried this hard over a wound before, you've had a lot from your parents. Well, you're not exactly crying because of this thing in your left leg. You keep denying the real reason, but that never stopped your sobbing.
You stayed there, crying like you've lost everything you had...
...cause you did.

The snow crunched underneath my loafers. The thick forest trees surrounded me creepily, but that didn't bother me. What bothers me is that I could hear (Y/N)'s sobs from the void. It's annoying! Why is she such a nuisance...but I hope she's doing okay on her own.
"Hey!" My soul skipped a beat. That voice that haunted me in my dreams... "You! Turn around this instance!" I stopped in my tracks, but didn't turn. "Turn and face the captain of the royal guards, stranger!!" He boomed.
His tall figure hovered above me. I swallowed my doubts in as I feel empty again, like always. "Heh...if you insist." I turned. As soon as I did, he was roughly tangled in my blues strings. His appearance scared me. Not by his stupidly ridiculous costume, but because...
...he's my brother.
In another version, at least.
"What is this sorcery?!" He barked like a helpless puppy. "Untangle me now!! It is a command from the captain of the royal guards!!" As he tries to wiggle out of my mess, I walk away.
"Sorry..." I started as I walk slowly away from him. "I just really don't give a damn about what a 'captain of the Royal guards' say."
When I was far enough from him (since his unimaginably loud voice turned to an indistinct noise), I finally breathed freely. I saw my doppelgänger, and he saw me.
He was sweating, as usual. "So ya' finally came to show up, eh? So you'll help me."
"Yeah, already did." I say casually. He stares at me confusedly. "I mean, I killed your brother."
His eyes widened in amusement, but mostly anger and fear. Ah, the usual Fell. He took me by the collar, pulling me close to his disgusting face. "YOU WHAT?!" He screamed, almost deafening.
"What, you take jokes seriously now?" I said, calm. He lets me go, but his death stare never looked away from me. "Anyways, I can't help you...yet."
"What do ya' want now, My head?" He said, clearly irritated.
I chuckled. "That could be arranged."
"Wtf, hell no. I'm just joking." He says, creeped out by my reaction. "What do I have to do?" I whispered in his non-existent ear. "That's it? Ya' got yourself a deal."
I smirked. I opened a portal back to the void and sighed. I saw her staring at me, her face stained with tears. Not showing my emotions, "stop looking at me like that. It's creepy."
She scoffed. "Check your own reflection." I rolled my pin pricks, her attitude seriously amuses me too much. I know I made a mistake, but there's no turning back now. I'm sorry for everything, (Y/N). If only you knew...that one thing I had believed in left me long ago, now I have to do this.
I've been sorry ever since the day you were born.
