Unsafe Inside

Chapter 2

Ronnie was headed out the door with the kids but then turned around and said,

"Bye Sarah, and good luck."

I managed to give a small smile, trying to hide my pain.

With that he left. As soon as he did, it became quiet and cold. I walked over to the thermostat and turned the heat up higher. I layed down on the couch and cried, soon afterwards I fell asleep.

I woke up and checked the clock, 7:27. I walked into the kitchen and fixed myself chicken noodle soup. Thanks to Ronnie I had a pantry full of canned goods, and a full refrigerator. 

I sat at the counter and began eating my soup until I felt really cold. I felt like I was being watched. I looked up from the bowl and I saw a asian girl that looked about 16 with dark black hair that went to her shoulders. I screamed and almost fell off my stool.

"Shhh! You have to hide, he's coming." She said with sorrow in her eyes.

"Who's coming?!" I yelled frightened.

"Steven! You have to hide now!" Is what she said before disappearing right before my eyes.

I slid behind the island in my kitchen crying. It was then I heard a knock on the front door. I knew it was Steven. I could feel it.

I tried to quiet my whimpering so he couldn't hear me. I put my head in my knees and tried to calm myself down, but I still heard knock-knock-knock. I cried even more until I looked next to me and saw the girl again.

I looked at her with wide eyes.

"Shhh. You have to calm down, or he won't leave."

We sat there looking at the door, waiting for the knocking to stop and it did. I turned to the girl and said "What are you?".

"What do you mean?" She asked confused.

"You keep appearing out of nowhere. How?" I asked.

She looked away and said "I- I'm dead." She finished looking away still.

"What do you mean you're dead!?"

"7 years ago, I was just like you. Walking home late. He took me, and put me in the same exact basement he put you in. I tried to escape just like you after he didn't bring Siristi back, but I guess I wasn't fast enough." She said looking at me.

"I am so sorry." I said crying.

"No don't cry it's ok. That's why I'm here, to save you. But there are others who don't agree with me." She said starting to disappear.

"Wait! What's your name?" I yelled.

"Kelly..." Is what she said before she was completely gone.
