Scott was running. No.. Sprinting. The adrenaline had kicked in and was making him go faster than ever before. He only had one thing on his mind: Malia.
The beach near Theo's house was nowhere near where Scott lived, but his mom had taken the car to work and his bike was being repaired because Stiles accidentally drove into it with his jeep.
So he was running.
His heart was pounding, mind was racing, legs were hurting but he couldn't stop.
He had been in love before. Allison was his first love and Kira his second. What he had with them was special and couldn't be replicated, not that he wanted to replicate it, but with Malia it was different. She had always been there for him and she always had his back. When times got rough, she stood by his side and fought with him no matter the dangers. She was the strongest person he'd ever known.
After a while he unknowingly started falling for her. Not in big steps, but slowly. He caught himself looking at her smile and thinking about how cute it was, sometimes he'd start looking at and admiring her from across a room without realising, he'd always try to sit next to her not knowing why, tried to make even the smallest contact with her even if it was just brushing her hand or "accidentally" touching her foot with his foot, and when he walked into a room he always looked for her first. It was all these little things that just built up, and before he knew it, he was in love with her.
It was like nothing he'd ever known. He had so much respect for her and would never dare underestimate her. She was the most beautiful person the face of the earth, and she deserved so much more than what she was getting. But she wasn't fragile or or girly; she knew her worth and even though she sometimes underestimated herself, she dealt with everything thrown her way.
But he knew that she didn't feel the same about him.
Right now, that didn't matter.
He arrived at the beach not noticing how out of breath he was. He didn't care about how he felt or how tired he was, all he cared about was getting Malia to a safe place.
He was looking around frantically in the dark, hoping he had gotten there in time.
But he couldn't see anything.
The stars were shining bright and the waves sounded calm as they got to shore.
He looked around but couldn't see much at all.
"was this a joke?" he asked himself. "Did Theo prank me? If he did i swear to go-"
That's when he saw her.
She was just standing there in the water, completely frozen still.
Frozen.. shit
He ran straight to her, ignoring how freezing cold the water was as he got in.
"Malia? Malia what's going on are you ok??" He said calmly so as to not startle her.
No answer
He called out again but it was no use, she wasn't answering.
When he touched her arm to see if she'd maybe snap out of it then, he flinched. She was as cold as ice to the touch.
"Shit" He thought. "Shit shit shit shit shit"
Thinking fast, he put his jumper around her and picked her up off her feet, bridal style. The adrenaline still hadn't worn off so he carried her out of the freezing water.
When he was out, he wondered if he should put her down, bring her to Theo's place or to his place.
She was wet, so putting her down would only put sand all over her clothes and make her uncomfortable. That option was quickly crossed out of his mind.
