"Love is a strange dark magic."
~AtticusWORKING AT POP'S DINER, was probably the only good thing going for me right now. All of my friends worked here, and since my mother committed suicide, they have become my family.
The only part's I hated about this job, are the roller skates, the skimpy uniforms, and the customers. Especially the customers, when ever Ace came in.
"Can I get a cutie in a sexy uniform?" Ace's voice sounded, still looking down at his menu with a smirk I so badly wanted to punch off his face.
He and his group of friends, laughed at his crude comment.
"No, you have to pick something that's on the menu tonight, unless of course that proves to be too difficult for you?"
Boys being boy's, his group of friends "Ooo" at my comment and it just made me want to punch them more.
"No, it's not too difficult sweetheart, I just want something more...exclusive." He said, his eyes running down my body.
I scoffed, "well this isn't on the menu tonight, and if you're not going to order, I'll order for you."
I went to turn around to head back inside, because well it was freezing outside, then a hand caught my arm. Not again.
"What is it with you and your arm grab-" my voice stopped mid-sentence.
It wasn't Ace who was holding my arm this time, it was someone else.
"Um, can I help you?" I asked, staring into his hypnotizing dark brown eyes.
"No." came his curt reply. His eyes traveling up and down my body much like Ace's did, but this time they didn't make me feel uncomfortable.
"Hey, did you want to order anything, or..." I felt my cheeks heat up from his intense staring. "Dude I need to get back to work, would you like, let go of my arm?"
"Oh, right." He said, releasing my arm, and the tingling sensation that came from his grip faded away. "Here," he gave me a piece of ripped paper I didn't notice he was holding, it had i blue ink his number on it.
He walked back to his group of friends, and each of them gave him high fives, all except Ace, who had his jaw clenched and was staring at me. I furrowed my brow and looked down at the paper again, stuffing it in my pocket I rolled back into the restaurant, utterly and completely confused on what just happened.

I clocked out when my shift finished, exhausted. My feet were killing me, and I still had my homework I had to catch up on.
I was walking towards the old pickup truck, when I noticed a dark figure leaning against the hood.
I quickly fished out my pepper spray out of my bag, and I held it tightly in my hand and slowly approached the truck.
"Um, can I help you?" I asked when I got close enough, the person's face still concealed in darkness.
The person in the hoodie, had a male outline to him, and knowing people around town who have been murdered this way before, made me all the more nervous. turned his head towards me and slowly lifted his hand, and I aimed the pepper spray can at him.
"Don't move or I'll spray, just step away from the truck."
I scrunch my eyes together, looking away.
"Leana, it's—"
I pressed down on the bottle in my hands.
"Mother fucker!" He grunted, pushing his fist into his eyes.
