Excitement kept her achingly tired body alive, as the dirtied white Durango cascaded over the bumpy road. It was perfect. A hazy summer day pulling into night, and soon she would have a sister. A sister. It was all she needed to perfect this summer. She turned and flashed a grin at her obnoxious younger brother, then held up her hands. The two kids began to sing cheerily to the rythm of their clapping hands. "My mother was a baker, a baker, my mother was a baker, and this is how it goes!" The kids continued to clap and sing in joy until their flustered mother held a finger to her lip, making sure she was within eye contact through the mirror jutting from the front of the car. The siblings silenced themselves, and the girl slipped her earbuds in, turning up "stronger" on her ipod.
