I awoke to Jack shaking me. He had messy hair and his eyes looked heavy from sleep. Confused I sat up and looked at him as he yawned and rubbed his eyes.
"You were talking in your sleep." He said sitting on the edge of my bed.
"What?" Sleep heavy on my voice.
"You were yelling "
"Oh. I was dreaming about my dad."
"Where did he go? Did he tell you his destination?"
"No, he said off planet."
Jack nodded, "What does he do?"
"He explores places and tells travel companies if it's a good vacation spot. But he's usually gone for months at a time."
Both Jack and I yawned. Jack shook his head and patted my hand. "I'm going back to sleep. Maybe we'll see your dad when we get out of here."
"Yeah, maybe"
I lay back down as Jack did. He looked at me with his blue eyes, and smiled. "Nice haircut."
I smiled as I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
In the morning I awoke to the sound of metal against metal. I sat up confused and ran to the living room. To the right was a small kitchen with Jack putting a pan on the stove. As I stepped into the small room Jack looked up and smiled.
"Martha bought eggs and gave us a few. How do you like them?"
"Scrambled." I responded sitting down on a stool.
"The word is that Jun won't be here for a couple of days. So we have time to kill."
"What are we going to do?"
"From selling my watch we have a little extra money. We can either save it and see how much we get when we exchange them on the other planet, or we can have some fun now. What do you want to do?"
"Well it's your money, So you choose."
He put the mixed eggs into the pan and let it sizzle. "We can always make more money off this planet. So I say we have fun."
"Sounds good to me. I'm going to change before we eat."
Jack nodded as he started to scramble the eggs in the pan. I walked down the hall and closed the door behind me. I grabbed the box of clothing and looked through it again. I pulled out a couple dresses that were too small for me and a couple shirts that I guess used to be Jack's when I found another picture. It had the same girl in it, except this time there were older people around her and Jack wasn't there. She didn't look very happy in the image. I flipped it over and on the back it read "Adoption Day". Jack and her must have been in an orphanage together. I wonder what happened?
"Are you decent?" Jack said through the door.
I jumped. "No not yet."
"Hurry up or your eggs will get cold."
"Okay."
I put the picture back in the box and pulled out a purple shirt that fit the same as the black one. And a pair of blue jeans that were slightly too big. I stood up and opened the door. Jack was standing there holding a plate of eggs.
"Here," he said handing it to me. "Hurry and eat we need to leave soon if we are going to make it."
"Make what?" I said shoving food in my face, as Jack did his.
"It's a surprise. We're taking Alex too."
I smiled "That sounds like fun."
"It will be. Now hurry up." He said already finished with his food. I ate the last couple bites and handed him the plate. He took it and threw it into the sink and grabbed our bags. "Come on."
We got Alex and headed out of Eskran with Martha waving. We all started on our way to what Jack said would be fun. What could it be?
