(Edited) Part Seventeen - Dakotas p.o.v

'Dee,'

I whined as my mate woke me from my nap. I was still in my wolf form with my five little babies snuggled against me sleeping soundly.
'Sorry to wake you baby but Ethan needs to check on Oscar and I know you don't like missing it.' Tyler smiled softly down at me.
Oscar was my little fighter. Ethan had told us that this first week will be vital in determining if he survives or not. But I knew my baby would survive. He had the same little white coat as me, while the others were a mix of browns with the odd white spot on their coats.
I whimpered up at Ty. I didn't want to leave my babies but I didn't want to miss Oscars check up either.
He chuckled, 'don't worry Kyler will look after them.' He tickled the spot behind my ear, making me purr. As he done this ky strolled over in his wolf form and climbed gently onto the bed behind me. He licked my ear a little before shuffling next to our little pups as I stood.
I shifted and pulled on the shorts Tyler handed me. It felt a little strange to be in my human skin again. I'd been a wolf for three days straight.
'Come on little one.' I cooed to my little fighter as I picked him up and snuggled him to my chest. He was so tiny it scared me. Like he would break if I held him too tight. 'Hi Ethan,' I smiled as we entered his office.
'Hey Dakota, Tyler.' He smiled, 'how's the little man doing?'
'His breathing is still heavier than the others and he doesn't move or whine like the others either.' I told him.
'May I take a look at him,' he asked and I nodded. He gently took little Oscar from me and put him onto a little mat he put on the desk and began examining my baby.
'Right, keep an eye on his breathing because I'm a little concerned about how harsh it is.' He told us after a couple minutes, 'as for his movements and such he may be a little slower at developing than his brothers and sister but he's fine and healthy and certainly a load better than three days ago.' Ethan smiled and handed me my pup.
'Come back tomorrow so I can check on him again and your now free to leave the hospital and take your pups home.' Ethan grinned at us. 'Any problems just call me. And congratulations to the three of you.'
I beamed up at my mate and Ethan, 'thank you for all your help. See you tomorrow Ethan.' I was ecstatic. I couldn't wait to get our little pups settled in our room. We'd prepared a nursery while I was pregnant and I couldn't wait to get them in it.
'Ethan says we can leave the hospital now.' Tyler explained to Kyler, 'but we have to keep a close eye on little Oscar because of his breathing.' He sighed.
Our pups whimpered as they climbed on top of each other to get comfy. The other four were huge compared to Oscar and I was so scared they'd crush him when they slept that I kept him apart from them. Ryan was the oldest pup, Isabelle was the second eldest and only girl, then there was
Tommy And then Ryder, with Oscar being the youngest.
'Come on let's get the munchkins settled in.' Kyler grinned as he shifted back. He scooped Ryan and Tommy and snuggled them into his bare chest while Tyler grabbed Isabelle and Ryder.
Oscar whimpered in my arms and coughed a little. I looked up at my mates in panic.
Tyler smiled softly down at me, 'don't worry pup, he's fine just a little tickle in his throat nothing else.' He soothed.
I nodded and kissed Oscars little head. He was so cute but so fragile. It pained me a little to know he was like me. I wanted them all to be strong like my mates, not inherit my pathetic genes.
'Oi, stop that.' Kylers stern voice brought me out of my thoughts. 'We know exactly what your thinking Dee and it doesn't matter. You are everything we want and need and our little boy there is lucky to have such a great little daddy and to look as beautiful as him.' He told me.
'Im just s-scared he'll be h-hurt.' I sniffled. I didn't want any of my babies to go through what I had to.
'He's a little fighter, just like his daddy.' Tyler smiled and kissed the top of my head. 'Now let's get the little tykes settled in. No doubt your brothers and mine will want to smother them as soon as we get them to our room.' He chuckled.
The journey to our room took far longer than I liked. Everyone we passed stopped us to say congratulations and look at the pups. I was on the verge of tears by the time we'd reached our room. The looks from some of the pack members when they saw my little Oscar stabbed me right in the heart. They looked at him like he was nothing. They could see that he was weak, the colour of his fur wasn't the only indication. He was so small and his body just looked so frail in comparison to his siblings.
I let Ty and ky put the pups into their nursery while I sat curled up in the middle of our bed with my little Oscar. I listened to his laboured breathing and couldn't stop the tears as they rolled down my cheeks. I chocked on a sob and curled round my little fighter, gently nuzzling his tiny nose with mine. 'I won't let anyone hurt you. I promise.' I whispered to him and watched him snuggle closer to me. It was my fault he was like this. All my fault. It was my fault for being weak and pathetic.
'Whats wrong little one?' Kyler whined as he crawled up and lay down beside me. 'Why are you crying?'
'T-they kept l-looking at him I-in d-disgust.' I chocked. I heard Ty growl from somewhere in the room before I saw him kneel at the side of the bed with his chin resting on the covers. He looked at me while stroking my hair gently.
'Don't think about those mongrels pup,' he tried to keep his voice as gentle and even as possible, but I could hear the anger still, 'they're just jealous. Don't worry baby, we'll protect them. No one will even get to touch our babies.' He grumbled protectively.
I nodded and curled round my little boy, kissing his tiny head before drifting off to sleep.

I'd like to thank my fabulous readers for all your comments and votes :) sorry I haven't been updating in a while had to swap jobs so a lot to sort out but from now on I'll try to update regularly because I hate to be kept waiting myself so I'm not going to keep you all waiting too long ;P
