I thought the porter scene was hilarious because I understand his jokes. He even jumped on someone! I just got a little weirded out when in my mind didn't think he would be peeing behind a pole. I also didn't like it when he was in nothing but a towel in the first half of the video. I thought he would be dressed in more normal cloth like a t-shirt and some pants rather then a towel and a dirty sweater. The porters jokes were very different from the one we read in the book. I wish that he would stick to the lines in the book then make his own jokes though.

So, as we have discussed, the Porter scene may have been created to take advantage of an opportunity to include something funny in an otherwise serious play. It's not always interpreted as funny — I can find many examples of directors who have perceived of this scene as serious and threatening, like almost all of the others. But, here is an example of a director who has attempted to interpret the scene as funny.

Thoughts? Did you find this funny or not? What about this actor's interpretation — did he interpret the character or create a completely different one? Did he stray too far from his lines or did he interpret them well? What is helpful or what is the harm in this kind of interpretation? This character clearly tries to steal the show, at least for a few minutes — is this good or not?Advertisements Share this:Like this:Like Loading... I did in fact find this funny not because of the sexual jokes but because it really looked like he was drunk. He just teeter around until the noble men came and he had to open the door.I liked how he interacted with the crowd, he even jumped on someone. He stayed on the track pretty well although I pictured the porter with a completely different voice but, I guess that's my interpretation.I still wish that it was like how I interpreted it.

I did not find his jokes funny ,but I did understand them. He looked like he was drunk. I think he stayed to far from his lines he made jokes to the audience not to himself. The jokes were so far away from the original script. I thought that he was dressed inappropriately. I thought he would be dressed more elegantly. I think he was ruining the show with his boring jokes. He might of also ruined the show when he was urinating the area. I could not even look. It was one of the most disgusting video in the blog.
