ISHMAEL'S P.O.V
"Ishmael, I got accepted!" I had to hold the phone away from my ear to avoid going deaf as Amber squealed the good news through the speaker. After she finished screaming, I put the phone back to my ear. I smiled. "That's great!" I said. I suddenly felt tired. Did I get enough sleep last night?
"It's that university in Athens, right?" I asked. "Yeah, that one!" she beamed. She was talking about a prestigious college in Athens, Greece. She's been wanting to go there since tenth grade and she would never leave me alone about it. Constantly babbling on and on, always worried she'd never been good enough for such a high-end university.
I hadn't realized how distracted I was with my thoughts until I heard Amber yelling at me, pulling me back to reality.
AMBER'S P.O.V
"Ishmael?" I waited. No response. I sighed. He spaced out again. I tried again. "ISH!" I shouted. "Huh?" He sounded dazed and confused. And kind of tired. I shook my head. "You didn't hear what I said, did you?" I asked. "No, sorry." I sighed again and rolled my eyes.
"I'm leaving for Athens tomorrow," I said. "Tomorrow?!" He sounded shocked and upset. "But the school year doesn't start for two and a half weeks!" he exclaimed. I sighed. "I know, Ish. And I'm sorry. But I'm going to be there for four years. I need time to move in and settle down. And the flight there is almost a whole day." Ishmael paused for a minute. "Okay." He sounded upset. "You can meet me at the airport before I leave," I said. He seemed to perk up a little bit more. "Alright." That was better. I hated that I had upset him. "Well, I'm going to go now. Gotta pack. See ya tomorrow." "See ya."
I hung up and tossed my phone on my bed. Time to pack. Okay, I'll take about two to three weeks worth of clothes. I need my makeup and some shoes. Everything else I can buy when I'm there. I started packing, playing music in the background. After about an hour and a half, I was done. I yawned. The clock read 1:30 AM. Wow. It's late. I yawned and laid down. I set my alarm for 10:00 AM. The flight departs at 3:00 PM. That gives me enough time to double check my bag, say my goodbyes, and get to the airport. I yawned again and fell asleep.
