The reason I wrote this story is because it was an assignment our teacher, Mr. H, gave us over winter break my junior year of high school to complete and send to him by New Years Day. It was a creative writing assignment about the future, our future and I just feel in love with it I never finished writing it, I still add to it everyday. I play it in my mind over and over, ways to make it better and I thought why not share it. I still don't have a name for it yet. And I add every day but it's like all over the place when I write. Sometimes I write in the present, the past, the future; sometimes I just write on scene and find some place to fit it in later. I leave a lot blank because I just come back to it and I definitely do not have the middle yet but I know it's gonna be a long story. It's a work in progress.
Once upon a time in a city called Palm Springs, the Christmas party was three hours away and the MacKenzie family was preparing for their guests. In the family there were eight children so far: Peyton and Leighton, Carter, T.K., Callahan, Silver, Conan, and Jay then there was the father who's name was Ashton and my name I'll get back to that in a second. Ashton was a professional athlete. How did he meet our main character and that would be her, you're wondering? Well, they met at Penn State. He didn't notice her at first. Until one day after a late hockey practice and she was working that same night as maintenance they had never met. She was listening to her I-pod while dancing and mopping when suddenly she slips and loses her balance which causes her to fall on her ass. Ashton ran over to help her forgetting the floor was wet and she she was getting up he crashed into her causing them both to fall. Angry she took her headphones out of her ears, looked at him with a contorted face meant to send daggers his way, then asked in a harsh tone:
"What are you doing?"
"I ran over to help but..." he trailed off
"Well, uh I think you should've read the sign that states in bold letters: CAUTION WET FLOOR before you came charging to rescue me dude." she said pushing herself up to stand than also helping him to his feet
"I'll try to remember that next time I try to help someone. I'll say to myself next time: If there's a sign stop and read it first then help the person." he said in a sarcastic joking tone; mocking her slightly.
"That's all I'm saying dude. The names Tia bt dubbs. And what about you not so Prince Charming?"
"I'm Ashton"
"Yeah well it was nice meeting you, uh Ashton, and thanks for trying to save me and all but next time don't." she said grinning showing him her winning smile. The second he saw it he knew it meant trouble and he wanted that trouble.
"No problem, but I'll tell you something you don't know about me."
"And what would that be Mr.-I-play-hockey-so-I-think-I'm-extra-good-looking-and-I-can-have-any-girl-I-want?" she asked laughing but serious.
"I don't follow rules so well." he answered not flinching towards the statement she had said just laughing with her.
"I guess that's why you're always in the penalty box at least twice a game-instantly regretting what had just slipped out of her mouth she continued-or so I've heard."
"You watch me?" he drawled in his native Pittsburgh tongue, flattered and caught totally off guard causing him to blush harder than he's ever blushed before.
"Woah, woah, woah big boy. Don't flatter yourself, I-she began to say with a nervous laugh-I, uh watch a lot of people."
