Dear Max and Nev,
Hey! My name is Lucy and I have been talking to a man I fear is lying to me. I am not the type of girl to seek a relationship online. But I got curious and eventually started talking to Jordan. It's been around five months since we started to talk to each other. Jordan seems so caring and understanding. He is always telling me something funny that happened to him and it brightens my days. But recently something rose a few red flags about who he says he is. I have seen the show and tried some of the things I have seen you do. The only thing I was able to find was his number registered to someone else's name. But I know that can be a fluke sometimes. Anyway, I decided to write to the professionals and plead for your help. Please, please help me!Cheers,
Lucy"At least she has done some homework," Max said.
"Yeah! She seems practical and like she has a good head on her shoulders," Nev added.
"Let's get her on the horn!" they said in unison. The laptop screen was black for a moment. Then suddenly it was filled with the sunny face of a girl in her early twenties. She smiled wide and waved enthusiastically.
"Hey, guys!" she exclaimed.
"Hey, Lucy!" they both replied with grins.
Max began the interview. "So you got curious about online relationships?"
Lucy rolled her eyes and self-consciously covered her eyes with her hand. "Yes... I was at a point where all of my friends were getting married or were dating. I was the only single one. You know how that feels after awhile. So I went to some random site and Jordan messaged me. His pic was cute but not to the point that made me worry, you know. And he was really nice. We chatted back and forth about superficial things. Within a few weeks, he had become my best friend."
Max and Nev both smiled.
"That sounds really nice," Nev stated.
"But you said that something raised some red flags raised. What was that?" Max -ever the realist- questioned Lucy.
Immediately Lucy answered. "I wanted to meet him. He lives a day's drive from me. I suggested making a weekend of it. Either him coming here or me meeting him there. But he made excuse after excuse. Each excuse was more ridiculous than the next. I am not one to take much. I call people on their crap. And this was not an exception.."
"Yeah!" Nev cheered.
"I like this girl," Max said to Nev, pointing at the screen.
Lucy laughed and continued the story. "That's when I did the research that I could on him."
"What all did that include?" Max asked.
"I googled his name, of course. Nothing came up that I thought was noteworthy. I did a few reverse image searches. Nothing. His Instagram seems legit. I did search his phone number and it came up as someone else. And like I said in the email, I know that's not always concrete proof. It can be incorrect."
"Right. Well it sounds like you did as much as you can. Would you be open to some help?" Nev asked.
Lucy smiled brighter than before and nodded! "I would really appreciate it, guys!" she admitted.
Max and Nev looked at each other. "Looks like we're heading to St Louis!" Nev declared.**************************************************************
