It was Friday night, the beginning of summer as I was sitting on the bench outside our house. I was watching the sunset while I heard faded music from the party inside. The party... Inside my parents were hosting a party for their 15th anniversary, but I couldn't enjoy it. I had been in a fight with my parents, well my whole family actually, for quite a while now. People always think it's easy when you live on the upper side, but it isn't. Of course, there are a lot of goods sides of living on the upper side, but, there are a lot of downsides as well. One of those is the pressure of your family. They want you to be as successful as them. It's like a bomb, you make the wrong decision? The bomb explodes.
Well, the bomb that I've been carrying is about to explode as I need to decide or to go away with my boyfriend, not going to college and leaving my family, or staying where I am, losing my boyfriend and going to college. This may seem an easy decision when you have a normal family, but when your family is a bunch of jerks it isn't.
"Olivia?" I heard my name being said by the one person I didn't to want right now.
"Yes...."
"Have you made your decision yet?"
"No...," I say while I cautiously look up to Samuel who, in the meantime, has been sitting next to me.
"Honey, please I don't wanna lose you as well."
"Well you're the one that's going, so don't then," I say with a slightly annoyed tone.
Sam looks at me with an eye-roll as he sighs.
"I just need more time to think, leaving college isn't nothing."
"I know... It's just that this is really important for me." He says
He gives me a kiss on my forehead and he walks away
It's around 3 AM and I'm sitting in my bed, playing with a strand of hair, still hesitating over the decision I'm about to make. I already packed my luggage, my pink ted baker suitcase with golden details, I got it from Sam for Christmas last year.
I researched the place we'd be going to. Sam bought a gorgeous mansion in Milan, by far my favourite city in Europe. Jet, I haven't made up my mind. Even though my family hates me right now, I don't want to let them down this much. From a distance, I hear the awful noise my alarm clock makes. I carefully open my eyes and see the time it says, 08:30 AM. The first thought that enters my mind is my decision, I need to make a decision, now. When I check my phone, I see a text from Sam.
SAM: I'm sorry I've put you in so much stress. I have to do this alone, you can't leave college for me. I am on the plane to Milan right now... I am sorry. I love you.
As I've read the text I lay my phone away and I fall back in my bad. I don't know how to feel. I feel sad, anxious and relieved in some way.
A bomb has exploded, an emotional bomb.
