laina winthrop once aspired to be a personality that represented the epitome of gryffindor – perfect hair, perfect grades, and a perfect personality to match – up until the point she just didn't care anymore. much to her dismay, however, she briskly found she was unable to live up to this standard stereotype. for, unlike most gryffindors, the only thing that even remotely allowed her to identify as a member of her house was the patch of garnet that peeked out in her uniform.
no perfect personality, no distinct courageousness, and definitely no hyperactive personality that would go to lengths to prove her valor. eventually, along the way in her second year, she forgot to care, and went about her life.
until she was forced to care again.
in her fifth year, where laina encounters the cold front of a Slytherin one year above her, who had always been distant, even to his own house, she finds she needs to change in more than one way to hold her own. for both of their sakes.
