It was Friday exactly 3 pm and I had Leslie screaming on one side, and Grace on the other side. It was complete chaos, clothes everywhere, makeup cluttered all around us, oh and did I mention Grace and Leslie were screaming at me.
"You what?" Leslie shouted you didn't ask him where you were going. How the hell are we supposed to dress you, what if its a classy restaurant and you show up in ripped jeans, or if its a stargazing picnic thing and you show up in a tight ass dress and cant sit down?" She screamed at me.
Grace being the sensible one, turned my face towards her. "Amelia, honey you got to ask a man, or woman." she said nodding at Leslie, "Where he/she is taking you because now we gotta just wing it, and trust me I hate doing that."
"Sorry guys, but honestly I didn't get a chance he ran off so fast and I was so distracted."
Groaning Leslie threw a few items at me, "here wear this, it's casual but cute, and we can just do bomb ass makeup on you to balance it out." So there I sat doing my makeup with Leslie yelling more, more more. "More highlight girl, you need to shine for the golden boy."
Laughing, I added a little more, "there? is that to your liking?" I asked at the end. Grace had put slight waves in nothing too crazy. Checking myself out in the mirror I nodded at myself in a weird way. Okay, Amelia Hayward you look hot, but not too over the top, go out there with that popping highlight and shine. Just then I heard the doorbell go off, Leslie rushed to look out the window, me being me pulled her back. "No Leslie don't look out he can see us," I shouted, a sheepish looking Leslie mouthed a sorry and pushed me out my room to go open the door for Jacob.
Opening up the door I saw a casual dressed Jacob. Smiling to myself I was happy that I hadn't gone over the top for our date. "Wow Amelia, you look beautiful." A red-faced Jacob said.
Blushing as well I mumbled a 'thanks and you too.' Flashing me a smile he offered me the crook oh his arm, giggling I placed my hand on his elbow. Walking up to his car he opened the door up for me, lowering myself into the seat I smiled graciously at him, buckling up he drove us to a small restaurant that seemed really homey. "I hope you like burgers because these guys have the best ones," Jacob said turning around to face me once he'd parked.
"Of course I do," I replied, I was always up for a burger and fries anytime. Getting out of the car, just as Jacob came around to my side, he pouted.
"I was gonna open that door for you." laughing I shook my head.
"It's alright Jacob, I can open it"
"But then how am I supposed to be the perfect gentleman tonight?" he questioned.
"I think you're already off to a pretty great start," I replied as we headed inside. The waitress led us to our table by the window, sliding into the booth Jacob sat on the other side.
"Hello my name is Grey and I will be your server tonight what can I get you guys?" the waitress asked. Skimming the menu we both gave our orders.
Cupping my cheek I rested my elbow on the table and looked at Jacob. "What?" he asked laughing.
"Nothing, I'm just wondering why you asked me out on the first day of school."
Scratching the back oh neck he gave me a sheepish look, "well let's just say I didn't want to be late in asking you out, in case someone else took you away."
"highly doubt that would happen, but-"
"Sorry to interrupt you guys but here's your food," Grey said as she placed our plates in front of each of us. Thanking her we ate our food in silence, occasionally making eye contact, which I would break right away then Jacob would smile in amusement.
"What, I don't like making eye contact," I grumbled
Jacob threw his head back laughing, while I sat there with my burger in my hands glaring at him. "sorry sorry" he said once he saw me shaking my head. Reaching across the table he put his pointer finger and thumb on either side of my lips and turned my lips upwards. "Turn that frown upside down," he said with amusement written all over his face. Trying not to smile I stuck my tongue out at him.
After we had argued over who was to pay the bill we split the bill and Jacob led me outside back to his car. Since it was still early I suggested we walk around downtown. Agreeing with the idea he drove us downtown.
Walking beside each other I looked up at him, just as Jacob looked over at me, blushing i whipped my face the other way my hair creating a curtain between us. Damn it, Amelia, why are you so awkward. Mentally scolding myself I took a deep breath and gently slid my hand into Jacob's. Squeezing my eyes shut I silently prayed he wouldn't pull away and make things awkward.iNstead he threaded our fingers through while tugging a little closer to him. Mentally I was high fiving myself and jumping up and down. We had now walked to the centre of downtown, where there was a big group gathered around. Walking closer we saw a band playing some latin type music and people dancing all around. "May I have this dance Ms Hayward?" Jacob asked slightly bowing.
Embarrassed I shook my head, "I can't dance Jacob" The only time I felt comfortable dancing was under the influence of alcohol but that was just more of me jumping around, and screaming.
"Well, I think I know enough dancing for the both of us" He led me through the crowd and pulled me up against him, one hand holding me at the waist while the other held my hand. Gently placing my free hand on his shoulder I looked down just as he started moving us with the music. i could feel myself burning up, with the thought of all the people staring at us. Jacob slid his hand out of mine and placed it under my chin making me look up at him. "Eye's on me, Amelia"
Looking into his green eyes I felt somewhat safer, not that there was any danger but just more comfortable. Just as the song was coming to an end Jacob dipped me down low, laughing i let my head fall back. Then just as easily he'd swung me he pulled me back up against him. All around us, there were applauds for all the couples who were dancing.

Back in Jacob's car, I turned to ask him, "Where'd you learn to dance like that?"
Smiling to himself almost as of thinking of a memory from a long time ago he said "My mom thought that it was mandatory that my brother and I learn to dance. So of course back then I hated it but now I'm happy I learnt it." he said throwing in wink my way.
"Well I'm happy you learnt too, otherwise tonight I wouldn't have been able to dance like that with you."
"My pleasure Ms Hayward," He said just as he pulled up in my driveway. Getting out, Jacob followed me up my steps to my porch. Turning around I looked up at him.
"Thank you for the amazing night, Jacob."
He simply pulled me in for a hug I wrapped my arms around his neck as his went around my waist. Pulling back slightly I gazed into his beautiful green eyes. Kissing his cheek I pulled back. "I had fun tonight we should do this again sometime," I said.
Nodding Jacobs eyes lit up, "I know just the spot next Saturday there's this movie drive-in happening."
"Yeah okay sounds great, can't wait" I replied.
After exchanging goodbyes I went inside already getting excied for our date the following Saturday.
