"The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter."

Revelation 8:10-11

-Ella's POV-

The star, wormwood, crashed into the ocean. Millions died in just one night due to the poisoned water but it got worse when the dead started rising the following morning. People are screaming, houses are burning and there is nowhere left to go. I took my backpack and dumped in left over food, bottled water, first aid kit, flashlight, and extra clothes. I quickly wore my denim jacket over my black T-shirt and slipped on my black Nike sneakers. I took two thick magazines and wrap it up on both of my arms with ductape. I have seen this kind of shit in TV, I might know how to survive this new messed up world. I grabbed a kitchen knife and headed towards the door. I don't know where to go but I am not safe if I stayed here. I hesitated for a while but after a minute, I slowly turn the door knob. It was dark out the in the hallway, probably because of the blackout and the lack of windows. I grabbed my flashlight and headed down three flights of stairs. The hallway is empty because people have evacuated earlier and the ones who did not, stayed in their homes. I'm headed down the basement, it's where the parking lot is. No, I don't have a car but the dead won't probably mind if their car got stolen. There are a few zombies walking in the basement, I try to hide every step of the way until I found my way in a black mercedez benz van with tinted windows.

I quietly opened the driver's door and I almost jumped in fright when a zombie from the driver's seat tried to grab me, luckily, he got his seatbelt on. I jabbed the knife in his head and quietly pulled him out of his seat, making sure not to make a noise; those shitbrains are attracted to noises. The key is in the ignition and the tank is half full. When I was about to close the door, I heard a scream coming from nearby.

"HEEEELP!" A girl's voice said

I quickly shut the door and started the van. I drove to where the scream came from and there she was, a girl about 5 feet and 4 inches tall with dark brown hair. She's on top of a car with zombies surrounding her, trying to grab her. I went out of the van and found a rock and threw it on another car, opposite our direction. The zombies tilted their head where the sound of the rock had been hit and slowly, moving away from the girl.

"Hop on." I said, inviting her in.

She jumped down the car's roof and ran her way towards me.

"Thanks. I owe you one." The girl said.

I gave her a genuine smile and we both remained silent until we made it out the basement and into the road, I found a diversion road which lead us to an uptown mall. It is usually quiet here unlike in the downtown. Very few of the people lives here, mostly high class.
