Silence... That would have been all you heard when you go to the surface ever since that happened. A nuclear war plagued the world five years ago. Due to the explosion on a selected few were able to move underground by a random selection of Social Security numbers. The other people that were not picked had to stay up on the surface to die. The world that moved underground started over by building an empire. There were schools, hospitals, banks, and much more. Their most brilliant scientists made an artificial sun powered off water and electricity. Everything worked out in the end. However, that was not enough for a certain group of people.
A creaking noise broke the silence. A sewer cover slid left. An Asian girl's head popped out of the hole and looked around quickly. "No mutants..." She whispered and looked down the sewer pipe. She wore glasses and had long jet-black hair with dark brown eyes. "Come on, Electra!" She growled at the girl behind her. She wore a black skirt and a red top with a red jacket on.
The other girl, Electra, sighed, "I bet you they died, Kaori. Who gives a crap anyway?" She had green eyes with a tint of grey in them and black hair all spiky in the back. She wore glasses and a Silverstein hoodie with blue ripped up tight pants.
"Dresden does," Kaori glared at Electra, "Deep down you care too. You never showed her after 10th grade though. You would have been up here instead of her if she did not give up her seat for you on that the bus! She jumped off the bus and disappeared! Her family was crying so much that day. You should remember that day clearer than me I expect?" Kaori's eyes narrowed to Electra in disgusted shame.
"NO," An older woman yelled at the top of her lungs.
A military officer kept the woman in the seat, "It's too late!" He shouted.
A girl jumped off the bus quickly so no one would grab her. She had brunette curly hair and light brown eyes. She wore baggy blue jeans and a baggy grey t-shirt.
Electra was sitting down in the seat covering her face with her hands. Behind her hands, she was in complete and utter shock. "I need to forget her," she mumbled.
Kaori looked at Electra and then out of the bus' window to see the girl trying not to cry, but hold up a peace sign to Kaori. "LILITH!" Kaori screamed at the top of her lungs and reached for Lilith as the bus drove away.
"Bye," Lilith mouthed and ran to a building.
Electra looked away from Kaori and hided her face.
"She did that out of the kindness of her heart," Kaori mumbled. "Come on... Let's look for her." She started to walk ahead and looking at the buildings around them with Electra slowly following. To the left of them was a Dairy Queen and behind them was Firefly Middle School. "We're in Downtown..." She sounded somewhat happy. "They can't be far--" Kaori started until a something threw a pebble right next to her head. Kaori and Electra turned around quickly. A girl with long brown hair and eyes that were a mix of grayish teal was standing behind them. She wore a black shirt with a black jacket on and black baggy pants. "What the hell, Kali?" Kaori sighed a sigh of relieve. "I thought for a minute that you were a mutant!" Kaori tried to calm her heart, which was pounding a mile a minute.
"You guys left your weapons at base..." Kali sighed. She tossed a chain that had a scythe blade attached to it to Electra and an Assault Rifle to Kaori. "You need to be smarter!" She frowned. "What happened if I was a mutant?" She crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow.
Kaori nodded and smiled at Electra then Kali. "Thank you Kali."
"No problem," Kali laughed.
"Where's your weapon?" Electra muttered, still hurt from Kaori's harsh judgment on her.
Kali smirked and lifted up her pants leg showing two blades attached to each thigh of her leg.
"Well... Do you want to look for them with us? There are three people, two girls and a boy, that are still up here. I want to make sure they are dead or a mutant." Kaori informed Kali.
"Tobias is..." Electra voice trailed off quickly as Kali looked at the sky. There were dark rain clouds covering the sky.
Kali muttered something softly that the others did not hear.
They started walking around Downtown while looking at the buildings. "It looks like... The war just happened yesterday." Electra muttered. Kali ran up to them.
Kaori looked back to Electra and mouthed, "If we meet her, please don't drive her away."
Electra nodded slightly and slowly followed Kaori and Kali.
Kaori gripped her left arm with her right hand digging her nails into her skin. I promised him, she thought.
