Unfamiliar Confidence

Chapter 2

A few nights later I had to collect my essay from Professor Montgomery so I went to collect the essay. I thought maybe I should meet up with Dev so I rang him up to see if he was anywhere near Park Avenue.

“Hey! Stay where you are staying right now. Don’t go anywhere and I’ll catch you up in another 15 minutes.”

Oh joy! I couldn’t help myself from being over excited at the thought of meeting him again. I knew that something was wrong. I felt weird whenever I think of him. I knew that I shouldn’t go beyond a certain limit so I kept to myself.

Dev came with a beaming smile on his face. His blue eyes so perfect, that I felt that I could keep on looking at them the whole day.

Everything was going on so well when all of a sudden Dev came close towards me. I could feel his warmth and the smell of his scent. My heartbeat got louder and louder whenever he was came close to me.
I was looking down figuring out what to do and then I raised my head to ask him a question and that was then I caught him staring at me.

He looked right through my eyes and I felt as if he was draining my energy out. I felt weak. He took me by his hands so that our faces were parallel to each other. I don’t know what initiated me, I closed my eyes slowly. I felt his breath. He lips touched mine lightly. I hesitated because I was confused.

I liked Dev but there was a reason that stopped me from kissing him. I couldn’t explain that reason. I felt as if I did the right thing at that moment. There was an awkward silence.

I stood up and I left feeling unusual and the need to escape the situation. Everything felt different. I always had imagined that love was something beautiful and to be in love is something only very few people get that chance. I knew not all love is true love, because there are even some fakes ones as well.

The only problem was that it was hard to distinguish between true love and fake love.
I had always wanted to be in love but I wasn’t sure whether my love would be a true one and whether my love would last forever without changing even a bit. I know that I sound crazy.

I really don’t know whether what I did to Dev was right or wrong but I always kept my fingers crossed to hope that I never regret what I did to Dev.

It just looked like Dev Chace was after all a passing beautiful cloud in my life.
I never heard from him again.
