I woke up feeling happy and satisfied with the amount of sleep that I got. It had been six months since I had opened the café and it still is the best thing that I have achieved. I got ready to get to work and send my friends back home a few messages. After changing into something nice I went downstairs and started preparing everything.

An hour later I heard someone knock on the door, I walked over and saw that it was Mary waiting for me to open it. I grabbed the keys and let her in.

"Goodmorning boss, how are you?" Mary took off her coat and hung it up on the coatrack.

"Goodmorning Mary, I'm fine. you look very happy today." I already knew the reason why.

"Oh yes, it is Thursday so Leo will be coming to get coffee." Leo was a regular customer and Mary had grown a crush on him during the time that he spent here.

"Well, he will be coming in a few so you better get changed." Mary raced to the backroom where we stored our personal stuff. I continued to prepare the café for the customers.

I finished taking the chairs of the table when I saw the clock on the wall. I quickly opened the door and turned the closed sign around. I knew that there were a few regular customers who came as soon as the café opened so I made sure that their orders would be ready when they came in.

It was quarter past eight and I knew that Leo would walk in any second now. Just when I turned around to face the door I heard Mary say "Goodmorning Leo!". I saw Leo chuckle and he said "Goodmorning to you too darling, and you miss De Rose. Good to see you as always." I smiled "Good to see you too Leo, you want your usual order I assume." I turned around to make his coffee while Mary prepared his blueberry muffin and served it to him. "Yes the usual please, by the way, the boss wanted me to tell you that the cinnamon rolls were amazing like always." I laughed at the compliment. "You should tell him that he has to consider something healthier for breakfast than cinnamon rolls every day. He might gain weight." Leo looked at me and laughed in my face. "I will tell him that."

I let Mary talk to Leo while I continued serving the new customers. I sat down when there weren't any other customers to serve. I thought about Angela's offer to go out with our friends and go to a restaurant and a club. She wanted for us all to take a night off and relax a little, which was an amazing idea. I haven't done anything with my friends for a very long time and I started to miss that. My thoughts were interrupted by Leo.

"Goodbye, miss De Rose!" "Goodbye Leo!"

I walked out of the café and towards the restaurant where I would meet my friends. Since I had no car yet I had to walk everywhere. It also didn't help that it was already dark out and that I was walking through a rough neighborhood. I walked past an alley when I heard shouting and the sound of gunshots. All of a sudden I felt somebody holding me and pulling me to the ground which was when I hit my head on the stone sidewalk...

I woke up with a banging in my head. I rubbed my temple when I looked around the room, which wasn't mine. The banging in my head became too much so I put my head on my knees to make it stop. I then felt someone pushing me back on the pillow.

"You should lay back. You hit your little head pretty bad." I opened my eyes and saw a handsome man standing over me.

"What happened and why am I here? And who are you?" I tried to get up again just to be stopped by the man's hand pushing me down again.

"You are probably suffering from short-term memory loss. I tried to keep you out of harm's way but I had to choose between hitting your head and you get hit by a bullet." I shot up again but I was held back by the man again. "What do you mean to get hit by a bullet?"
