A young boy sits on the sand, then leans back onto his arms, staring at the sky. The bright blue mixed with the hues of the slowly setting sun and the rising twilight.
He sighs, memories playing through his mind. The memories of exploring the Forbidden Jungle. The jungle was a lush, beautiful green, but danger lurked behind the green glow. They loved clambering up trees and peering over the canopy.
Samos, the Green Sage, called them, "trouble-makers," and they were. Their curious personalities had gotten both of them stung by Wumpbees. They had come to the Sage's hut tired and pained.
"You foolish children! You never listen!" Samos' voice replays in his mind.
The boy sat up as his fingers trembled, sensing Eco nearby. He stands, and sees a strange box which seemed to hold the Eco inside. The boy walks over to it, and opens the box with increasing agitation.
The box was filled with a dark, oily substance. He reached out to touch it, but a shrill voice shouts his name.
"Jak! Come on! Your uncle says it's dinnertime!" the boy shouts.
Jak nods, not bothering to speak up. He didn't own a voice to speak with. His friend, named Daxter, was like his voice box. But, being the prideful boy that Daxter was, he often said things that got Jak into trouble.
"Come on, I'm starving!" Daxter shouts.
Jak takes one last look at the box, then turns, walking with Daxter to their small village of Sandover. Jak lightly punches Daxter in his shoulder, smiling.
Sandover was a seaside village, the villagers very kind and earnest in their ways. They walked past the Sculptor's hut, the man skulking by a large granite slab.
"I wonder what will be-" Daxter begins, but stops as he slams into the Mayor.
"Watch your step boy. And walk facing forward!" he says, fuming angrily.
Jak helps Daxter up, who rubs his head in annoyance. They then shrug, walking to Jack's uncle's hut. It was well past dusk, the sky aglow with stars. A sudden wall of scents envelope them, temping them inside. They saw the Fisherman, the Birdwatcher, the Farmer, Samos, and his daughter, Keira, sitting at an elongated table. Daxter sat as far away from the Fisherman as he could; Daxter hated the smell of raw fish. Jak took a seat next to Keira. She looked up, then smiled kindly.
"Hi, Jak," she says.
Jak turns his head, his ears growing hot. Samos said the blessings, then everyone began to eat and tell of recent happenings.

Jak opened his eyes, then sits up on the bed, trying to keep the old aspen framing from moaning in protest of hi weight. He crawls to Daxter, then pokes him.
"Mmmph...not...now..." Daxter moans faintly, stirring.
Jak places a hand over Daxter's mouth, mainly because Daxter would blurt out the most random things if someone woke him.
"A-mmpgh." Daxter nearly shouts, but stops himself, mumbling through Jak's hand.
Jak motions for him to get up. Daxter obeys. They sneak out of the hut, slowly making their way to the dock.
"Wait," Daxter whispers, "are we doing what I think were doing?"
Jak nods. Daxter's expressions changes instantly.
"No way am I going to take part in another one of your crazy adventuring schemes. Especially to Misty Island! That place is teaming with Lurkers!"
Jak gives Daxter a pleading look, frowning like a sad puppy. Finally, after some self-debating, Daxter agrees. Jak smiles, happy that he wasn't going out alone.
Daxter muttered angrily, not happy that he was yet again pulled into another of Jak's plan of adventure. He clambers into the boat, the slow rocking of the seawater lapping at the boat sloshing his dinner in his stomach, then begins to feel sick. He leans over the edge of the boat, groaning in agony. Jak only sighs, then stares up at the night sky.
A splash interrupts the peaceful night. Jak sits up, Daxter gone. A pale hand grips the edge of the boat. Daxter pulls himself up, spitting out a mouthful of saltwater. He grins meekly. Jak sighs, then struggles to pull Daxter into the boat. Then, almost like a spring, Daxter launches in to the boat, on top of Jak.
"That was fun! You've got to try that!" Daxter says, laughing.
Jak also laughs, grinning. The old speedboat slowly speeding towards the isle off of the mainland, covered in thick mist.
OMG! I finally finished! Yay! This took forever! Two flippin' hours! I hope you like it!
