"It's a matter of trust Jack. Do you trust me?"
"Ironic. The bad girl asking if I trust her."
"Well I trust you and the others."
Jack sighed, unlocking the door.
I sprinted home, my emotions weighing me down.
♈
Waking up to an alarm is a first world problem. Curse the people that made school start early.
Throwing on my black ripped jeans, black shirt and denim jacket, I stalked to school.
As usual, Corbyn and I got caught texted each other during History when we were just one table apart.
I switched off my phone as Mrs Davis' hand slammed onto my desk. "Detention. Again." She cried, exasperated.
♈
Walking to Biology, I felt a slight tap on my shoulder. Preparing to scream my head off, I whipped around. It was Jack.
"What do you think of ditching Bio today?" He asks, with his usual smirk.
"I don't see why not."
So we crept to the back of the school, where the parking lots were.
"Is there any reason you wanted to skip class?" I asked.
"I needed to talk to you alone."
"Hmm?"
"I saw Josiah looking at you across the hallway again."
"Is that supposed to be my fault? What. Did you trip him again?" I screech.
"No. I just wanted to tell you that you may not have believed me yesterday when I said I liked you, but I really do." He sighed.
"But..." I stammered, trying to find the words to tell him I didn't like him in that way. Yet.
"I know you don't like me because I'm a player. But lets face it. We both are."
"So what are you suggesting?" I asked, turning my back to him.
He slipped an arm around my waist. I went rigid, biting my lip again.
"Let's have a bet. Within the next month, we'll pretend to be together. The first one to fall for the other loses. The loser has to give up their player ways." He whispered into my ear, causing me to shiver.
"Why would I want to play your stupid game?" I asked, still frozen in place.
"Are you scared of losing Rosabelle?"
"No. If you want to play games, two can play. And stop calling me Rosabelle. Call me Rose." I snapped.
"But I know the effect it has on you when I call you Rosab-"
Suddenly, I felt his hand release me and I head him grunt in pain.
Confused, I turned my head. Oh. It was Daniel. He somehow pried Jack off of me and threw him to the ground.
"Really Jack?" He asked, anger lacing his voice.
"Why aren't you in class?" I asked.
"Because you and Jack never play the truency card together."
The bell saved me. Ringing shrilly, it was sure to make someone go deaf.
"Go for lunch with the other boys first. We'll catch up with you."
Sensing the tension, I scurried to the find the other boys, all sitting at the table in the centre of the cafeteria.

Jack was a liar. He knew how to act. He knew I liked Rose, but wanted to make things difficult for me. Why?
"What do you think you are doing Jack?" I growled, squatting down to where he was still splayed on the ground.
His smirk reappeared. "What's wrong Daniel?"
"You know exactly what's wrong."
Grabbing his collar, I laughed darkly. "Stay. Away. From. Rosabelle." I said, a hint of danger in my voice.
Getting up, I headed to the cafeteria.

I sat down next to Jonah. Leaning over, I stole his sandwich. "Rose. Really?"
I smiled innocently. "What? I don't feel like eating much."
"Where are Daniel and Jack?" Zach inquired, before Daniel tapped him on the shoulder. "Here." Zach jumped and we all chuckled.
Jack trailed behind Daniel, sitting beside me while Daniel eyed him cautiously.
"The bet starts tomorrow." He mummered so only I could hear. He seriously wanted to play? Fine.
