Chapter 1

Tears rolled down Winifred's cheek and were quickly absorbed by her liquid body. She couldn't look him in the eye anymore. Her boyfriend of 4 water cycles had cheated on her with another waterdrop. "We could've been so happy" she murmured as she looked at the ground below her. "We were going to live happily ever after together in a waterfall."

"I'm so sorry" her (ex) boyfriend whispered back. Winifred couldn't see his eyes behind his bangs but she could tell he was looking at the ground too. "It was an accident, I was so high that I mistook her for you." "IT WAS A HAIRY MAN WITH A BEARD." she screamed, not even trying to fight back the anger anymore.

What would she do now? Her boyfriend was her whole life. She thought about ending it all but remembered she couldn't because she was a raindrop, not a lucky human. She also didn't have any arms. Some days she dreamed about having limbs and being able to pick up things. But today she only thought of her boyfriend and the life he had chosen to leave behind. What a mess she was.

She turned her back to the boy she thought she knew. That would never leave her. That would treat her like a princess. That would protect her with his life. That he would never let anything happen to.

She didn't know anything about him.

But she knew one thing. This was a new start. A new opportunity to spread her wings and find out who she really was. Not follow the crowd. Find a new life for her and ONLY her. Move out of the same old sea and into somewhere new and exotic like a rainforest river. There was one person she had to say something to now.

"Goodbye, Bobby jr" she said, trying to sound as strong as she could in the moment.

"No, you can't leave me here, Winifred!" he replied frantically, sadness in his voice. " You are my world Winifred, we don't have to end over one silly mistake, we've been together for 4 entire water cycles, if we can last that many we can last a million more!"

But Winifred had made her decision. She stepped forwards into the sunlight, her first step into a new life.

And she started evaporating.
