-Ella's P.O.V-
"Please Ella! Please, please pretty please!"
"You know I don't like hockey" we both laugh.
My friend Anna has won two tickets to a Blackhawks game for next week and has invited me to go.
"Come on, Ella! It's only one game and I don't want to go alone", she gives me her puppy dog eyes. Oh god, do I ever hate when she does that.
"You can't ask anyone else?"
"They're probably all busy"
I sigh. "It's a waste of a ticket if I go, you should at least find someone whose intersted in hockey"
Her big brown eyes staring into my soul, I give in.
"Fine", I mutter, "Just don't expect me to cheer" I laugh.
"Yay! Don't worry El, you'll have a great time" she says as she goes to the kitchen to make our popcorn.
A few minutes later, Anna returns with the bowl of popcorn and plops on the couch. Some popcorn falling to the floor.
"So, what do you wanna watch tonight?" she asks, paying attention to the screen.
"21 Jump Street?"
"Ya, sure", I agree, Channing Tatum is such a babe and this movie is hilarious.
Anna and I have been best friends for three years now.
Flashback
"Hey Ella?" my boss Jenelle yells.
"Back here!" as I drop a box of veggie burgers. "Shit"
"This is Anna Clark, she's going to be working here now, you two are the same age. So, show her the ropes and I'll catch up with you ladies later." she smiles and walks away.
"Nice to meet you", she says as she extends her arm to shake my hand.
Back to the present
We moved to our cozy little apartment in downtown Chicago a little over a year ago.
Our friendship is amazing although, I've always been a bit jealous of her.
She's tall and beautiful, I'm short and dull. She's outgoing and fun, I'm shy and boring.
We both didn't want to go to college or university after high school. High school was enough for the both of us. So now we both work at Bottom Lounge on W Lake Street.
-One week later-
"Aren't you excited?" as she clasps her hands together and looks out the window at the United Center.
"I guess" I laugh, staying focused on finding a parking spot. Man, it's packed.
This is it, my first time ever going to an NHL game. I don't even like hockey so I don't deserve to be here. I know she's been trying forever to win tickets to a game but I didn't think that she would think of bringing me. I mean, I guess I could've said no but her damn puppy dog eyes.
I laugh at the thought of how easy it was for me to give in to that. It's always when someone makes puppy dog eyes at me, I blow it. One of my many weaknesses.
"There's a spot over there" Anna points out.
As I park the car I can see the excitement on her face and she reminds me of a child.
