Nile always loathes waking up in a dreamless state.
All he can manage to feel was the heavy red pouches under his eyes and the soft cushions engulfing him in a way that appealed disgustingly. It was as if these softness was forcing him, tempting him, to go back to a dreamless sleep.
Nile hated that.
It made him feel empty.
Weak.
And Disgusted.
Last night, he had no choice but to cry or go to Caspian's arms. He knew he can't do the latter so he suffered the effects of his small outburst in the morning.
His throat seemed seemed to be beaten up when all he can manage was to create a rough sound in hoping to get Elliot's attention.
His eyes never bothered to wander off to what Elliot was doing. He just stared dumbly at the stale ceiling, watching the tiny cracks in it as if it was the most entertaining sight he’d seen.
“Master, we’re 30 minutes late to the morning gathering. “
Nile nudged himself off the bed and attempted to sit properly only to rely on the bed for support. Elliot handed out a uniform, slightly smaller and leaner than his, beside him. It was folded neatly and on top of it was his name.
“I’ve prepared your coffee. I shall go to the head butler and ask for a little extension, perhaps, a maximum of 10 minutes. “
Nile nodded and slowly unbuttoned the white loose polo he was wearing. He saw the coat he was wearing yesterday beside the coffee Elliot was talking about.
And then suddenly, thoughts of Caspian flooded his mind easily and with him, a dam of emotions that forced him to wish that a dreamless sleep was better than this.
Caspian’s smell was still lingering in his coat. It was an alluring smell of summer flowers.
He didn’t want to remember Caspian.
Just thinking about his beloved mate made his heart ache. But he decided that Caspian was better off with another.
Maybe the Moon Goddess will not be cruel enough if he learns that this was a great failure.
A mismatch.
Maybe. Just maybe. He might find a way to cut their link on each other. In that way, they can find their own hapiness without destroying one another.
It was a stupid maybe. But Nile can't shake off the feeling of wanting to hope that maybe when he becomes a respectable butler, him, being an Omega will be of no problem to Caspian's.
In 10 minutes, he managed to look presentable enough to be categorized as a butler now. His shoulder length hair was tied in a curt ponytail in a similar way on how he watched Elliot tied his for years. He shaved the almost non existent hair in his chin and he bathe in cold water, hoping to relax himself in all the puffiness.
Nile situated the bed sheets back in their proper order. He drank the coffee and ate the bread and wore the white inner shirt and vest which complimented his translucent skin.
The white made him feel purer. But the scars marring his hands and back were proof that he was as black as the dirtiest dirt.
He managed to stood straight upon opening their bedroom door where the buff head butler awaits. He did a curt bow and saw the head butler’s brow twitch.
“The other butler asked for 15 minutes. I came to tell you that as a lowly butler, we do not have that kind of privilege.”
“I understand. I apologize, sire. “
