I groggily woke to the sound of my alarm that read 5:30am. Snooze. Ten more minutes won't hurt. The bed wraps me in its warm covers, the pillows whispering to me to get comfortable. Don't worry, you won't have to tell me twice. I turn on my right side and close my eyes, trying to savor the moments where I'm happiest. The moments where I'm asleep when I know I should be awake.

It doesn't even feel like 3 minutes has passed yet when my alarm goes off once again. I press stop, and check the time again. 5:41am. I check to see if There's a text from Stacey, but she still hasn't responded to me.

To Stacey👀🍑: hey! You think imma be able to see you again before i leave? 🙃😩
Sunday, 11:36pm.

I'm supposed to leave Tuesday night, the day after the big meeting today. I would only have the morning to afternoon to see her, but she isn't even responding to my texts. Everything went so well to me, She got me racking my brain tryna see if I said or did something wrong. Here's how everything went down.

Friday night...

"Chug!" "Chug!" "Chug!" Yelled my co-workers as they all gathered around me, yelling at me in an excited manner to drink this bucket of beer. It was a special that this bar/restaurant offered sometimes, if you can drink the whole bucket without throwing up or giving up, you get dinner on the house for your entire table.

I've never heard such a thing but hey, I wouldn't mind some free lobster. But the task proved harder than I thought it'd be. My stomach already feels hard as a rock, and the beer drips down the corners of my lip. I'm struggling but the voices around me keep me going. And the thought of lobster of course. Although I doubt I'll have room for anything after this. This restaurant knows what they're doing.

The bucket was about the size of a gallon bottle, maybe a little bigger. It was ice cold too, which proved uncomfortable for someone who constantly gets brain freezes like me. I don't know why I volunteered to do this in the first place. Oh yeah I do.

I'm only in New York City for a couple of days. I have an important business meeting to attend on Monday. If all goes well, at the hands of my amazing negotiating skills, the law firm I work for, Wales and Kingston Law Enterprises, will become the official partner for one of the most successful law firms in NY. Needless to say, big bucks for everyone at my firm. But who says one shouldn't have a little fun first?

I tap out after I start burping after every gulp. "I can't do this." I say as Ronny rolls his eyes and mutters, "Ya fucking pussy. We knew you couldn't do it." The two of them start laughing as I roll my eyes back. "Yea yea yea, I'd like to see you give it a try you dickhead."

"Guess we gotta buy our own food now. You better get that deal sealed on Monday 'cause the way this restaurant prices set up, I'm not gonna be able to finish paying my mortgage!" Luis sighed. "Nigga you don't pay any damn mortgage. You talking bout the $50 a month you give your mom for groceries since you still live with her?" I scrunched up my face at him. "Fuck you Rome." He stuck up his middle finger after me.

"Why the fuck are we still here though? I mean do y'all see these prices?" Ronny says to us in a low tone. He always had more manners than Luis or me, but he still had a potty mouth like the rest of us. "I'm saying bro, this gotdamn burger is $45. Shit unless I'm getting some type of buns to come with me to the hotel room nigga I'm out." I dropped my menu and stood up.

The waitress quickly scurried over to us. "Oh you weren't able to finish the bucket?" She smiled while picking it up. "Oh nah, sorry. We were just bout to leave." I said. "Oh, well let me get you the bill. " "Bill? Sis we ain't eat nothing." Luis snarled standing up. Poor girl was probably shivering in her boots as his tall frame towered Over her.
