Y/n's POV
It's been 2 years since me and Lauren broke up because she accused me of cheating it's been 3 year since the abuse started I'm 17 now and I'm packing up everything of mine and my sisters so we can leave I'm gonna go talk to the jaureguis hopefully they still care I grabbed my baby sister and left I knocked on the jaureguis door it was mike he was about to close the door I put my foot in I said "let me talk to all of you right now I'll tell you what actually happened with me and Lauren" I set down my sister I said "hey go in the back yard I don't need you to hear any of this anymore" she ran out there I sat with the jaureguis I said "okay what did Lauren tell you?" Chris said "that you cheated on her because you'd disappear randomly and leave without telling her where you were going" I looked down I said "um yeah I would but what I was doing was the farthest thing from cheating on her um how would you describe my family when we come over or you saw us in public?" Clara said "close well put together humble" I chuckled I said "yeah well you guys never knew what happened behind closed doors and neither did Lauren" Taylor said "what do you mean?" I sighed I said "when I started dating Lauren at 13 everything was perfect I had you guys I had my family I had Lauren but when I was 14 a lot changed you guys didn't know about my parents started fighting 24/7 I'd wake up to them yelling and go to sleep with them yelling they finally got a divorce but neither of them would move out they got to the point where they'd take their anger out on me and my little sister but I'd always take the hit I wasn't letting them lay a finger on her when I was 15 was when they became drug addicts um my dad also raped me for the first time um when I used to leave randomly or disappear it was because um my little sister would text me to let me know they were trying to hurt her I would have to go protect her so because I was doing that Lauren thought I was cheating and at the time I just wasn't worried about telling you guys I was worried about my sister you guys had enough on your plate already I just didn't want to add more it's been 2 years since me and Lauren broke up it's been 3 years since the abuse started I've always told my sister never judge someone based on the outside and based on how their family looks because you don't know what goes on behind close doors I'll let you guys talk and I'm gonna go be with the one out there um also if you need proof I'm not lying here I had my sister take these of my body so you would know I was telling the truth there's also pictures of how my house looks on the inside and how my parents were this morning" I gave them the pictures and I went outside I sat behind my little sister she sat in between my legs she said "this is her family isn't it?" I said "yeah she told them I cheated on her but she never let me explained what was happening" she said "I love you y/n but I have a question" I said "what?" She whispered in my ear "why did your eyes light up when you heard Taylor's voice?" I smiled I said "I always had a small thing for her" she leaned back against me and I hugged her I kissed her head
Mikes POV
Y/n just walked out we were looking at the pictures Clara said "omg" We looked at the picture she was looking at it was of y/n stomach and back she has bruises everywhere then we saw pictures of their parents they were drunk off their asses and had needle marks in their arms then we saw pictures of the house it had beer bottles everywhere we saw scars on y/n's body there was a sticky note it said 'the night I was raped by him for the first time was the night Lauren broke up with me I don't want you guys to blame yourself for believing Lauren she is your daughter but she spent so much time hanging out with brad and talking about her friends that If would of actually looked at me and my body you would of seen the scars no matter if you guys believe me or not or don't care you'll still always be the family I knew' I said "she wasn't cheating on Lauren she was calling for help" Chris said "I can't believe this how did we not notice this?" Taylor said "we were all so wrapped up in our own little worlds that we didn't notice y/n needed help none of us did and Lauren didn't let her explain she just accused her broke up with her and then Lauren had brad over the next day" Clara said "how did she even deal with this?" At that moment y/n walked back in she said "you really wanna know the answer?" We nodded she sighed she said "when everything started with my parents I protect my sister with every fiber of my body I couldn't let her get hurt I'd never forgive myself when Lauren broke up with me at 15 I lost you guys too because you were her family I just I quit basketball I quit soccer I lost everything that made me happy except my sister she was all I really had left and she still is she knows who you guys are she blamed herself for a while because of me and Lauren breaking up and me being alone but I convinced her it wasn't her fault because it wasn't but it's hard when I was a 15 year old girl that should be out having fun not trying to figure out how me and my sister are gonna eat how much longer we can handle it I didn't have any other choice then to what I did I stayed after school every day I picked up my sister then went back to school I did all my classes I graduated high at 16 because I had to raise her i did everything for her I never worried about me I did 3 years of college in a year i have both degrees and diplomas I do what I can for us but it's still not enough god I'm 17 and raising a 13 year old but no one noticed what was happening not even my coaches noticed the one thing you didn't know was I wasn't the one cheating Lauren was I'd caught her multiple times with brad I knew what was happening I just didn't have time to worry about my self at the time emotionally or physically I knew she would accused me of cheating I figured it would be the easiest way for her to break up with me and I knew you would hate me but I let it happen because at that age nothing was about me for me it was about my sister because I had to be what she needed which was someone to love her and be a mother even if I was alone and broke she was always my pain focus after about a year of abuse my body became numb it's rare I feel pain anymore the pictures I gave you were only he scars form beer bottles but I didn't give you pictures of the knife stabs or the 3 times they shot me the worst part my little sister witnessing all of this i now have PTSD, anxiety attacks, panic attacks, I have all of that i get flashbacks of things that happened I never want you guys to blame yourself because no one saw the big picture" I said "what exactly do you need from us?" She sighed she said "honestly I don't need anything but she does she needs a family to love and support her she needs to experience that she won't go to bed every night hearing screaming and waking up to it she needs to know how it feels to have the family she deserves she needs so much and I can't give that to her it kills me all the time she has friends she goes to school she came home one day and asked me why our family isn't happy I didn't know what to tell her I left her with a friend for 2 Days I spent those 2 days standing at edge of a cliff wondering if I should jumped shes only 13 she can come back from it all she can have the family she wants with you guys but I can't come back from what happened I can't be the y/n I was when you guys first met me I know I'm asking a lot but just please be what she needs because I'm not what she needs anymore" she said that got up and walked out of the house we were all shocked her sister came in she looked at us she smiled she said "you're mike you're Clara you're Taylor and you're Chris" Chris said "yeah how'd you know?" She sighed she looked down she said "y/n used to tell me stories of the family that kept her alive for a year when she would talk about you guys she'd be happy but at 15 I noticed things changed she stopped telling stories everything changed she gave up everything she loved for me she stayed up Day n night so she could graduate to take care of me there would be days on days she would go without eating because she could only feed me she's never worried about herself hell she still doesn't she's 17 taking care of a 13 year old and she doesn't complain I know she's broken on the inside and it hurts to see her like that but I know I can't do anything she's never asked for anything but I know all she ever wanted was for me to be with a family that would love and support me and be there for me when I asked her if she ever left where would she leave me she always said 'I'd leave you with the jaureguis mike and Clara would be the love and support you needed Taylor and Chris would be great siblings to you their fun to be around Lauren wouldn't be around much because of music' she's so broken but she's so scared at the same time I can't tell you how many night she's cried herself to sleep how many night I've woken up to her screaming because of a nightmare I can't tell you how many scars she has because hell they take awhile to count she's always taken care of me but never herself hell honestly Idk shes ever truly felt love even when she was with Lauren and when Lauren was cheating you know what she told herself when I asked her 'why?" Taylor said "what?" She said "y/n used to sit there and tell herself she deserved it she used to tell herself she caused everything she blames herself god she blames herself for not being good enough for not being what ever wanted or what everyone loved she has a picture of you guys and her together she hasn't looked at it in over a year but I came home one day she was looking at her crying I asked her 'why?' She literally said 'it's so hard being alone and not being able to even go to the only family you've ever known god I shouldn't of screwed up them maybe I could of let you stay with them at least you'd have a better life she knows I can come back from everything I've seen them do to her but she doesn't believe in herself she never has she doesn't think she can god she's seen things I don't think she ever wants to see again but I do wanna thank you for keeping her alive for that full year until it all came crashing down you wanna know the best part she hasn't fully broken down since she was 13 she'll cry for maybe 5 mins but she won't break she refuses to she just tells herself she's okay but god she's not she never has been" Clara said "what can we do to help both of you?" She said "honestly me the only thing I get is nightmares that's all that's wrong with me I need a real family yes but god y/n need everything she needs all of you I've never seen her more broken then the day she realized you all hated her to she needs love she needs support she needs the care she needs the motivation she has dreams she has big ones but she gave them up so she can raise me she just she needs a real family we both do but she needs it more then anyone" I said "do you know where she is?" She sighed and nodded she said "I'll take you there"
Y/n's POV
I've been sitting on this cliff for an hour I'm just sitting here looking at everything when I heard "y/n please don't do it" I turned around I saw my little sister and the jauregui family I said "what are you guys doing here?" Taylor said "y/n we should of known and we should of helped we shouldn't of believed Lauren we should of got both sides of the story but we didn't and we're sorry for that but please let us help let us give you and your sister the love and support you've needed since you were little let's us give you what you need and that's a real family" I heard my sister say "please y/n I hate seeing you broken up you need a real family more then any of us" I sighed I said "I'll stay on one condition" mike said "what is it?" I said "when Lauren comes home I don't me and my sister will stay at a hotel until she leaves because if I see her before Im anywhere near put back together I'll break again" Clara said "thats fine y/n but please let's us do what we should of done when you were 14 let us help you" I nodded I got up my sister ran to me and hugged me she said "I love you" I said "I love you too" she whispered "go after Taylor when you turn 18 I can tell she'll be the one to pick you up the most" I hugged the jaureguis mike said "I'm so sorry y/n we should of noticed" I said "it's not you fault it never was but come on let's go home the first thing we can do is eat Clara's Cuban food because god I miss your food" she chuckled Clara said "there's the y/n we know always thinking about food" I laughed I nodded my sister said "woah you laughed" I sighed I said "I told you 4 years ago sis they were the family that always kept me happy and laughing" we all hugged
