"How 'bout we just listen to some music?" Lana murmured. Before her girlfriend could answer, Lana leaned forward and turned on the radio. After a few minutes of fiddling with the dial, Lana settled on a station playing a song they both liked and placed her hand back on the wheel. Cy, being the walking musical she is, begins to sing along.
"Pineapples are in my heaaaaaaad! Got nobody 'cuz I'm brain deeeeeeead!" Cy sang loudly. Lana laughed and joined in, softly at first but growing louder as the song progressed. By the end of the song, they had the windows down and were belting it out in the middle of nowheresville. The song melted into a commercial break and the girls broke into laughter.
"Y'know Lan-Lan, this is nice! I didn't expect a seven hour drive back from Vegas to be so fun." Lana laughed.
"With you, everything is fun." Cy smiled.
"Oh my god Lanney you sweet little butter biscuit!" She leaned over and gave Lana a peck on the cheek, leaving a small stain of cyan lipstick behind. The commercials melted into a familiar piano refrain and the lyrics begin: "Making my way downtown walking fast, faces pass and I'm home bound." They both go silent. Even Cy knows how lame it is to sing along. The first two verses seems to drag on forever. The bridge begins and Lana can tell that Cy is clearly struggling to hold herself back.
"You know what? Fuck it." Cy begins to sing loudly with no shame.
"MAKIN" MY WAY DOWNTOWN WALKIN' FAST, FACES PASS AND I'M HOME BAOUNNNNNNND!" Lana bursts out laughing, causing the car to swerve. Yet Cy continues much to her amusement. The final chorus begins and Cy gives Lana a look.
"And I still need you!" Lana groans.
"Fine!" She chuckles. "And I still miss you!" She sings back.
"WOO! And now I wonder!" Cy gives Lana a thumbs up. Lana sighs.
"Seriously?" Cy nods eagerly, a huge grin on her face.
"Take it away Lanette!" Lana sighs again. She can never refuse Cy. Lana finishes up the song, trying desperately to keep a straight face and failing miserably. The song finally, FINALLY fades out and Cy cracks up.
"Yay Lanuu!" She wraps her arms around Lana's neck. Lana smiles. Seeing their exit, she turns off of the highway and drives down a few streets, heading back to their home.
