Today was the start of Trinity's annual inspections on all the kids in buildings B and C. In hopes that we're all cured from our 'diseases.' Ha, I almost forgot that was today. Suddenly a knock sounded from behind my silver-plated iron door.
Shit.
I sat up slowly in my bed, the white covers still draped over me in a messy disarray. The knocking continued for a full three seconds before the door was harshly pushed open. In came a small group of doctors I've heard worked in the forbidden buildings they used to have here. X, G, and D—they were completely wiped out seven years ago, a year before my arrival. I've heard stories about the doctors, and kids that inhabited the place. I chose to ignore them, but I was still afraid.
"Silver Saw..." The head doctor spoke, his voice low and guttural. He had large round glasses almost in a comical way, choppy black hair, and the usual professional doctor attire. Wow, and I thought I was bland. I slipped out of bed and glared at him while he flipped through his clipboard. "You know that's not my actual name right?" He gave me a single glance before returning his attention to the clipboard muttering, "Of course. Of course. Scarlett." He looked back up and shoved the clipboard into his awaiting partners arms. Then they both passed me by beginning with the inspection. Though I don't see the point in this, my room is always clean. I didn't notice the other two doctors leaving until I heard the door closed. Party poopers. "Now that they're gone, the real fun begins." My eyes widened twice their original size. The head doctor turned towards me, a crazy grin plastered permanently onto his face. "Dr. Bennet, my equipment please." His assistant quickly exited the room, and when he returned it was with a large metal table full of multiple different needles and pill bottles. My stomach turned at the sight of them.
"Now Scarlett, we have some new medicine we want you to try. It will make you better I promise." I quickly turned away from them and bolted towards the door. Trying and failing to push it open. I was trapped. I paused when I felt a cold hand at the nape of my neck, their grip was strong enough to keep me from moving any further. He pulled my back in the direction of my bed, shoving me forcefully against it's side. I've never felt so useless—so weak as he opened a bottle of pills with his left hand; eyes gleaming sinisterly at me.
I hate this.
My eyes went visibly dull as his assistant injected needle after needle of some chemical fluids into my body; slowly everything seemed to go numb. I didn't even feel it when the doctor forced those red pills down my throat.
Then everything went red.
It was like they used blood to paint the walls. The lights fixtures on the ceiling hung like the small light off an angler fish. Swaying to the draft from the vents around the halls. I looked down at my feet in horror, my hands coming up to grab at the sides of my face as a few tears fell from my eyes. Both of the doctors were leaned against the side of my bed. The one I presumed was Dr. Bennet was completely covered in his own blood; most of his skin was peeled off of his body revealing muscle, veins, and bone for all to see. But when I saw the head doctor in full view, I could barley contain myself from screaming. His arms and legs hung limply from their sockets, and his veins seemed to glow in the exposing lights. Though what certainly scared me the most was the look on the mans disembodied head as it was impaled on my bedpost; his face was morphed and distorted, a silent scream.
I turned away so fast the entire world spun beneath me—so fast I almost missed that the door was now opened. I began to laugh deliriously before I ran out as fast as my legs could carry me. Far, far, down the hall I went.
Outside of my room the facility was much different then I remembered. On the walls we're different messages written in blood, but only one really seemed to grab my attention. It said, 'Mommy didn't love you, and Daddy didn't care,' I shrunk away from it, and decided to stay in the middle of the hall instead. Dead bodies of children littered the floors, and many different species of animals were nailed on the walls all around me. This couldn't be real—this isn't my world—this is hell.
