"Snow?" Johnathan said to himself as he dragged his feet through the shin-high snow, "In Dustwallow Marsh? What is this madness?"
He was told that he should head North towards Teldrassil and help a Druid by the name of Florilla by a priestess who saved him. But now the ex-Paladin was doubting if he should have listened to that elf to begin with. He drudged on, the snow seemingly deeper than it was letting on as he went through the usually temperate marshlands.
He shivered as he pressed on, the cold was not normally his friend even though he was raised in the mountainous region of Dun Morogh. He pulled out his compass and started speaking to himself again, "The exit to the Barrens should be west of...here...huh?" He watched as the needle of his compass spun sporadically inside, "Great. Broke it already."
He placed it in his bag and continued on in the direction he was facing," Fantastic. This snow comes out of nowhere, my compass bloody breaks, could this get any more messed up?!" He shouted into the cold forest marshes around him.
Just then he heard a swish behind him. He groaned, "Oh great a mage." He started to turn around, "Look mageling I don't have time to deal... with... what?" He looked and saw a box on the snow-covered ground, a mouse jumped on top of it beckoning him to step forward.
He walked slowly up to the box and mouse and knelt before it, the snow-white mouse spun around the sigil in the middle of the box, which was that of a Hearthstone, then it squeaked at him.
"Aw." He said picking up the mouse, "Aren't you an adorable little critter." He petted the creature tenderly, as a mother would her child to calm them down after a tantrum. Then he snapped its neck. He pulled out his heavy tome and flipped through its pages looking for something, "Did this count towards it?" finally after finding the page his visage turned from that of hope to that of disappointment, "Crud, it's not. What a waste." He tossed the dead carcass aside and looked at the box in front of him.
He reached out to touch it and before he placed a gloved finger on it he stopped himself, "What am I doing? About to touch a box that appeared out of nowhere? I must be crazy? Well... there was that one time with a dragon... I guess this won't be that bad? Hopefully."
He touched the box and instantly his surroundings changed from that of the snow-covered marshlands to that of a warm tavern that looked eerily similar to the one in Goldshire, just without the 'special' guests. Music played livelily and the inhabitants were all different races from Azeroth, Humans, Dwarves, Gnomes, Elves, Ogres, Trolls, Orcs and so many more. Startled by the sudden change in scenery he pulled out the elvish sword that was gifted to him by the priestess earlier and scanned the room, being ready in case anyone here decided to jump him.
John heard a voice laugh. He turned to see a Dwarf by the fireplace playing a card game with an old Wizard.
"I'm not drunk enough for this." He said to himself.
"My turn, my turn," The Wizard said, "Time for you to grieve!" He threw down a card and a miniature soldier on the Dwarf's side turned into a sheep, obviously, a polymorph spell mages use. The new sheep bleated and both of them started to laugh heartily. The Wizard stopped laughing and looked over to the adventurer with an inquisitive look.
"Nicely done-" The Dwarf started but turned around when he saw the Wizard look towards John, "huh?"
"Hey?" asked the Wizard, the simple word asked what a whole sentence did and the Dwarf wanted to know who it was that caught the Wizards attention.
The Dwarf looked at John who stood with platemail leggings, boots and a chestplate. His cloak swung behind him as its snow-covered hood hung over his horned helmet, the tattered blue and silver tabard hung across his torso. He smiled at the armed Human and said in a friendly voice, "Come! Warm yer frozen boots by the fire!"
